In my opinion gmail has the best spam filter I have ever experienced. With that in mind the bar is set pretty high.

    Good luck!

Okay, then what you do is patent it and contact the already existing email prviders.

    Youll never market one yourself.

Sounds like a great idea, but to be able to beat the big boys, you will need a lot of money. Firstly to program it, and then promotion will be huge!

Either that, or you go with Kaylese's idea and program it, copywrite the hell out of it - and then pitch it to some of the big guns.

    Good luck

Thanks, but the idea is ridiculously simple... but i guess no one ever thought it. everyone tries to think too deep. But this method will kill spam once forever. I am so excited but could not share with anyone becoz i want to become a billionaire with this concept of mine.

Right now I have only $10000 ready cash. But no idea where to start, what to buy, whom to outsource.

And mind you, there will be no need of promotions. This concept will be talked about by people all over news and media so no need of ads :)

Sounds great, even with the news etc talking about it if you want it to be successful you need to be in control of the information that is hitting the news etc. And, are you planning on having your own system, whole site and email thing yourself, or market the idea and promote it to gmail etc. Whatever path you decide be really careful about the people that you employ. And it could even be worth having the sign a non-disclosure agreement - just to keep yourself covered.

The ever existing "where do I start" dilemma.

The first thing I would do is.

I would brainstorm a business plan draft. Nothing complicated. Just, What is the product, how does it work, what does it do, why is it valuable and to whom is it valuable.

Often this exercise brings up questions that we had not thought of because we think our idea is so great. You'll find that you may not have all of the answers that you thought you did and will be prompted to conduct more research. I think this is a very healthy exercise.

    Other things to consider:
Im really not sure how much of a lock patenting a technology really is but you should take steps in that direction. Be skeptical of the companies that promise to do this for you. Check the .gov patent website. Often the government offers free resources to assist you.

Maybe you want to build a low budget prototype after you've gotten protection and release it to small trial group to get feedback on it. Maybe use it to seek investors and keep your 10k for later use.

After taking the previous steps, You may be able to shop it to some established mail companies and make your money there without running a long term company.

    Good Luck

Just a little advice ... try to stay on the floor :D

10K Is nothing to play with the big guy ... even if u had a super nice idea , it will take few weeks to make the same (in a different way) by the big guys .

If what you say is true, then don't bother to develop the application because it will be a waste of time. Just spend your money patenting the concept and license it to all the existing e-mail providers.

If you just develop the site, then someone else will just use the same concept later and you'll have no patent to protect you.

To make money with this business even $10M may be not enough. Spend $10K with patenting. Even don't try to develop anything and market it. You will waste your money and then die as business... This business is for giants.

Though $10.000 will get you very far.
You wont be buying a system that beats Gmail unfortunaitly.
    Depends on the idea ;)

Start by thinking of something that will separate your service from all the other services out there.

well, if the plan is good enough, go for angel funding and venture capitalists and start a "ReaL" company

indian .com companies are recieveing funding along the lines of 5 to 6 million $ average
    whcih is great

but if you ever want to go anywhere (in business) you need to learn how to work with "strategic partnerships" without that you will NEVER SUCCEED
mark my words and mark em well

so get yourself the best programmer there is, a good strategist, and someone rich enough to provide funds...... because you will need partner.... lots of them
