Hi Guys, for a while I'm using twitter as a marketing tool. In Awstats I see quite a bit of traffic increase in Unique Visitors as well as in page visits. On the other hand Analytics does not realize any traffic coming from any tweets at all. All urls I'm using for my tweets are shorten urls by cli.gs. I can check with my cli.gs account how many hits each url has but that's pretty much all. Also I think cli.gs stats counts also all hits by any bots or spiders that grab the urls. Is there any way or script I might have to include in my pages that makes that traffic coming from my tweets will show up in Analytics too? Thank you for your help verdecove
You need to tag your urls before shortening them. Use GA's URL builder and tag your URLs with campaign source as Twitter, Medium as textlink or tweet or so.. you should be seeing twitter traffic in your referring sources.
Thank you so much for your response. Just to make sure I'm getting this right... There is no other way to track current used shorten urls, right? I will have to use GA URL Tool to tag all urls first and then shorten them and use them in my tweets. Thank you verdecove
