What does Islam say about terrorism ? I am not going to write my opinion about that but lets read and study what the teacher of Muslims said and what is in the holy book ( Quran ) first : Quran ( the holy book of Muslims ) God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers. (Quran, 60:8) Now lets take examples of the prophet Muhammad sayings 1-Once the prophet Muhammad was asked by his followers " are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?†He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.} 2-{The most perfect of the believers in faith are the best of them in morals. And the best among them are those who are best to their wives.} 3-{None of you believes (completely) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.} 4-{The merciful are shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and God will show mercy to you.} 5-{Smiling at your brother is charity...} 6-{A good word is charity.} 7-{Whoever believes in God and the Last Day (the Day of Judgment) should do good to his neighbor.} 8-{God does not judge you according to your appearance and your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and looks into your deeds.} {Pay the worker his wage before his sweat dries.} 9-{A man walking along a path felt very thirsty. Reaching a well, he descended into it, drank his fill, and came up. Then he saw a dog with its tongue hanging out, trying to lick up mud to quench its thirst. The man said, “This dog is feeling the same thirst that I felt.†So he went down into the well again, filled his shoe with water, and gave the dog a drink. So, God thanked him and forgave his sins.} The Prophet was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?†He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.}
Thank you very much, now please tell this to radical Islamists, they seem to miss this part while reading their Quran....
I am non-muslim. I do have some respect for the quran. I do not have respect for the hadith. I have started to wonder as well if some of the violence in Islam can be traced to hadith teachings. What is your opinion Muhammad? Edit: I wanted to add this, "Widespread acceptance of Hadith (and ignorance about the Quran) has led to a lack of freedom, despotism and oppression in Muslim countries. The covering of a woman's face; the woman's dress; treatment of women as second class citizens; cutting hands for thievery; polygamy; religious police; the beard; the head covering; excessive divorce rights for men and none for the woman; jihad and terrorism originate from Hadith. None of this has any support in the Quran." What do you think about that statement? Not trying to stir anything up or be disrespectful, just honestly would like your opinion on that. Thanks.
Thank you for good comments you made … Rebecca thank you too for the question and respect for the holy book … the same feeling here about the holy bible ( I do respect it ) though I do not believe that it is the same book that has been reveled to Jesus ( son of the virgin Mary ) peace be upon them Your question is hadiths In Islam we have two main sources which are Quran and the authentic hadiths .. there is no Muslim says I believe in Quran but I do not accept the hadiths .. because it is there in Quran " follow god and his messengers" and we as Muslims believe that Abraham ,Moses .,Jesus till the last one ( Muhammad ) were messengers and prophet they were sent by God to guide people and teach them morals . they had the same message which was (worship the creator ) . The scholars of hadiths divided the hadiths into authentic , weak , lied ones according to the narration ( people who deliver the hadiths ) So we should know the authenticity of the hadith before we accept it .. you can find authentic hadiths in two books called ( al bukari ) ( moslim ) and some others books of hadiths . what kind of freedom you meant ? Covering face is optional . for the dress , good woman might be known by her dress for example you can know a cheap girl by her dress ,but our women are just like a jewelry she must be covered and saved from sick people who look at them . in Islam woman have the right to divorce her husband , it is called ( kula ) she can go to the court and say I do not want my husband because so and so . Quran permits but does not command a man to have four wives. Furthermore, the Quran stipulates that a man is responsible for the maintenance of his wife or wives . But do not forget that There are some situations in which it is advantageous to society to have men marry multiple wives, and for this reason polygamy is practiced by many religions polygamy is permitted in the Bible too.. It may be useful at this point to see what some non- Muslim writers are now saying on this much misunderstood subject. John Esposito says: Although it is found in many religious and cultural traditions, polygamy is most often identified with Islam in the minds of Westerners. In fact, the Quran and Islamic Law sought to control and regulate the number of spouses rather than give free license. (John Esposito, Islam: The Straight Path, Oxford University, 1988, p.97). Esposito then goes on to explain that in a society which allowed men an unlimited number of wives, Islam limited the number of wives to four. Then he continued to say: The Quran permits a man to marry up to four wives, provided he can support and treat them all equally. Muslims regard this Quranic command as strengthening the status of women and the family for it sought to ensure the welfare of single women and widows in a society whose male population was diminished by warfare, and to curb unrestricted polygamy (John Esposito: Islam the Straight Path, p.97). Karen Armstrong explains much the same in her book entitled Muhammad: A Western Attempt to Understand Islam. She says: We have to see the ruling about polygamy in context. In seventh-century Arabia, when a man could have as many wives as he chose, to prescribe only four was a limitation, not a license to new oppression (Karen Armstrong, Muhammad: A Western Attempt to Understand Islam, Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1991, p.191). The essential meaning of Jihad is the spiritual, psychological, and physical effort we exert to be close to God and thus achieve a just and harmonious society. Jihad literally means "striving" or "struggle" and is shorthand for Jihad fi Sabeel Allah (struggle for God's cause). In a sense, every Muslim is a Mujahid, one who strives for God and justice. Another form of Jihad is the striving to translate the Word of God into action. If one has experienced God and received guidance from the Quran, one struggles to apply that guidance in daily life. So the larger, more prevalent meaning of Jihad is the spiritual struggle of the soul. In this case, Jihad is always present for the believer whether there is an external enemy or not. We should never reduce Jihad to violence. A third level of Jihad is popularly known as "holy war." The classic passage is found in the Quran: Fight in the way of Allah those who fight against you, but transgress not the limits. Truly Allah likes not the transgressors (Quran 2:190).
Muhammad God bless you.this is really nice thread to remove misconceptions among non-muslims.Keep it up
What I don't understand is even though the name Jerusalem DOES NOT appear anywhere in the whole Koran, it is considered a holy city to muslims. How come?
terrorism is not mentioned in any holy book because when the holy books were written 'terrorism' was not a recognised concept. tribes fought bloody wars for supremacy, and assassins (the word by the way is persian in origin) would do what assassins do best, that is assassinate leaders of other tribes. terrorism is also a subjective term in that those suffering terrorism will obviously label it as such, whereas the terrorists themselves will call it 'freedom fighting'. nelson mandela was once labelled a terrorist, as were the zionists fighting the brits for control of israel back in the forties. now we prefer to forget those labels with regard to mandela and the zionists.
Jerusalem is the third holiest places for Muslims after Mecca and Madinah . Jerusalem is called al quds in Arabic. Muslims used to face Jerusalem in their prayers but God commanded Muslims in Quran to change to Mecca It is also the place of night ascension for the prophet Muhammad. You might ask why God changed the directions : we can say it is a test for believers Further more Mecca was the first place which was built to worship God ..it was built by the father of the prophets ( Abraham ) peace be upon him .
But it still does not appear anywhere in the Koran. Jerusalem ONLY appears in the Bible (Old and New Testament) over 800 times. In the Koran??? Not even once. Therefore the Koran is NOT related to the Bible. In the Bible, both Old and New Testament is full of miracles performed by the prophets. How many miracles did Mohamed perform Ah, yes, I remember: NONE. Based on these facts above which one would you say is the false teacher or the false book?
Not all muslims believe in hadith though. We were discussing the hadiths on here that said how an angel will not enter your house if a dog is in it, black dogs should be killed, etc...I would argue that those hadiths go against teaching of quran. Then a muslim from Turkey got on here and said he doesn't believe those hadiths, and the disrespect for dogs was primarily a shiite? thing. Then I tried to study more but it seems that there are so many sects that believe different things with even differents sets of hadiths and I got confused. One sect I love is sufism. They seem to be so spiritual and loving. Yet many muslims will say they are not even truly muslim. It is confusing as an outsider. I did have that question about what sets of hadiths were considered standard, so thanks for answering that before I even asked. I will look at the al bukari hadiths. Thanks...
Muhammad,I really like how you explain the quran and the hadith to non-muslims.Good job doing that.May Allah reward you for that. Rebecca,I am impressed by how much you know about islam unlike many people out there who think islam is about violence.Keep learning more as Knowledge is power.
The foolish of the people will say: What hath turned them from the kiblah ( facing Jerusalem in their prayers ) which they formerly observed? Say: Unto Allah belong the East and the West. He guides whom He will unto a straight path. (142) Quran GLORY BE TO HIM WHO TOOK HIS SREVANT FROM THE HOLY MOSQUE ( MECCA ) TO THE FARTHIEST HOLY MOSQUE ( JERUSLAM ) OF WHICH WE HAVE BLESSED THE PRECINCTS,SO THAT WE MAY SHOW TO HIM SOME OF OUR SIGNS; SURELY HE IS THE HEARING, THE SEEING. [17:01] Quran I will tell you one obvious miracle which no one can deny … it is Islam and the number of its followers and the number of the people who convert to it . Rebecca again Only authentic hadiths must be accepted the rest might be ignored if there is a weak in the narration . For sofis .. sofisim means purity . they practice Islam but there are some negatives and inventions in their ways of life . Again and again Islam is Quran and authentic hadiths .. Thank you all for comments . I am really happy to be here talking to you about Islam
I don't think you understood my question, so let me ask it again, it is a very, very simple question which you can only answer with a number: How many miracles did Mohamed perform? Let me make it easy for you to answer: Answer a= none Answer b= one or more Is it answer a or b?
Protein dude, he already answered you. It is answer b, because of the miracle that over 20% of the world follows him. Muhammad, regarding the hadith... Prophet Muhammad himself commanded his people not to write his hadith, this is documented in Muslim and other books: "Do not write down anything of me except the Quran. Whoever writes other than that should delete it" (Ahmed, Vol. 1, page 171.....also Sahih Muslim) .................................................................................................... In spite of that confirmation and also 6 incidents in the Quran when the prophet is reprimanded by God, for errors he committed, the worshippers of Muhammad claim that he was infallible!!!! These 6 incidents are found in (8:67-68......9:43.......9:113-114........ 33:37..........66:1.........80:1-11 ) .................................................................................................. The Quran commands all Muslims to follow the Quran Alone, this command is found in numerous verses, the following are examples: "These are God's revelations that We recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than God and His revelations do they believe?" 45:6 "Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?" 6:114 12 reasons you should not follow hadiths ................................................................................................. BTW, do you believe hadiths that tell you black dogs are evil and you should kill them-angels never enter a house with a dog, etc. are inspired by quran. If so, where in quran does it say negative things about dogs? Thanks Muhammad
Muhammad i do enjoy you so much here. It nice having people like you around to say to the world the teachings of Allah and his prophet{SAW}. Hey Muhammed which part of the world are you? am new here
When the unbelievers in Makkah asked the Prophet Muhammad to show them a miracle, he showed them the splitting of the moon Another miracle was the flowing of water through Muhammad’s fingers when his companions got thirsty and had no water except a little in a vessel. They came to him and told him that they had no water to make ablution nor to drink except for what was in the vessel. So, Muhammad put his hand in the vessel, and the water started gushing out between his fingers. So, they drank and made ablution. They were one thousand five hundred companions.2 Rebecca again what is the hadith and is it authentic or lied or weak ... we only accept authentic hadiths . salam alikum i am your brother from Mecca .
