I got yesterday an infraction for starting a thread in the wrong category. What does this infraction do? I honestly thought the thread was placed in the correct category, but obviously the moderators disagreed I am not looking to cause trouble at digitalpoint, and do not want to be disciplined, mais this has now made me scared to post any new threads because maybe I will post in the wrong category again? There are so many categories, sometimes maybe the proper category may be a matter of perception?
You may read about infractions here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php. Basically an infraction is just a statement that you have violated a posting guideline, in this case starting thread in most relevant category.
Experiance makes a man perfect. from the last thread you should have known where it should have been originally started Everyone gets a infraction and there is no need to worry about them as they expire by time You can make a search for similar threads and start it in that category. Amit
OK ... your methods are flawed ... because this is EXACTLY what I did ... Oh well .... I'll just leave the starting of threads to other people ... I will only reply to threads already started.
"Similar Threads" option is not so advance. You can use simple search forum or u can easly find revelant topics yourself by just browsing forum.
Don't be put off starting new threads. You'd have to do a stack of misplaced threads before the infractions would start to mean anything. They're just a tool available to mods to help manage the forum.
@ Gadgetsguy, there is nothing to be scared about posting. Infractions are a way of life, just forget it. You'll understand which the perfect categories are with time.
