What does host unlimited domains really mean?

Sorry if this is obvious but what exactly is the difference between single and unlimited domain packages?

Does this mean with unlimited i can host several websites/domains each with different url and content on one host package or is it only the one site but able to add unlimited domains pointing to thesame single site?

 

You can host as many domains as you wish as long as you have the space and bandwidth.

Ok, thanks. But you didnt really give a definat answer. I know i can host many domains but can i have separate sites with separate content for each domain? So basically i have a travel site, an adult site, an iphone blog all on 1 single hosting plan?

If so, i signed up to hostgator and know how to change nameservers etc to host 1 domain but where in the control panel do you add another domain and host that separatly in the baby plan? This would be great if i could host several websites

Yes, you have many sites on the same plan with each being independent of the others. I normally tell people to create addon domains outside of public_html to really make sure they are independent, I wrote http://forums.tolranet.com/blog.php?b=11 which I hope explains it.

From a quick read I'm pretty sure they use cPanel so it'll be once you login click Addon Domains, then fill in the form. If you were adding example.com then it'll offer to use the file path public_html/example.com I would personally change it to just example.com as if you leave it as the default it is possible to access the addon site via the main domain as maindomain.com/example.com/

You do need to set the nameservers for all the domains to those of your host.

It depends on the web host. I would rather ask the company before ordering the web hosting plan. E. g. our hosting plan which offer unlimited hosted domains means that you can have unlimited number of different websites and not only one with multiple domains pointing to the same web space.

 

just use "addon domains" in your cpanel and you can host many domains/sites

 

you basically have only 1 domain on your hosting. the next domains that you buy are attached to the main domain and will look like www.notmainsite.mainsite.com.

 

Unlinited domains means that you can host as many websites on hosing company's server as you like
