What does grey rep means ?

Hello everybody

This is a newbie question though, but i want to know what does grey rep means ?

It neither adds up to the points neither it deducts anything !! What is it ?

Earlier i thought newbie rep is grey, but sometimes i recieve rep from members with 300+ points and 2000+ posts, and its grey. Why is that ?

 

People with red rep give you grays

 

It means you are a vegetarian..

 

I just recieved a gray with message saying, dont talk about rep jackass !!!

I am not asking for anyone to give me rep !!! I was just curious what it means !!!

And, i have recieved gray from people who are green.
Anyways, if this thread is annoying people here, i would like the mods to close it.

I recieved rep from a person with his userid in comment, and that userid was green.

And as i write this, i relaize anybody could write another members ID in comment to pretend.

I think there are other reasons for a rep being gray, can't remewmber right now, maybe someone else can jump in and let us know

 

I vaguely remeber something i read, like if you have given too much rep in 24 hours, then it turns into grey, not sure though.

Lets see if somebody else can throw in some light.

 

I think, gray if the user who gave you the rep still dont have a reputation power..

it can also be gray because you received it in general chat forum..

 

nope cuz i received a green on the general chat forum not so long ago...

maybe it's a red rep from a person with red rep (if you can follow that)

 

i from my experience if a person who repped you have a rep power of over 5 you'll get a green, unless it's a gray.. I've received lots of grays in general chat..

it's a mistery only shawn knows... maybe they're from people with 0 rep? i also don't know what it means when a user has grey rep instead of x greens or reds..
