What does Google think about Bid Link Directories?

I was wondering what Google thought about bid link directories. If you bid for link positioning could Google possibly frown upon this?

It's almost like buying a link isn't it? I was wondering because I recently launched a bid link directory and was wondering what my members have to worry about?

Does anyone know for a fact if this will negatively affect page rankings?

I can't believe this topic is cached @ Google already that's insane Digital Point...

Google is seriously weeding out paid links sites and i'm afraid yours might be next. Also if Google finds out that those clients are selling links then yes it could affect their ranking

Don't mess with google if you don't want to have lower PR. There are better way to build up your website. ;)

i highly doubt it will effect their page rank. This has been discussed before in other forums. If it does negatively effect their page rank then someone can go and buy links for their competitor's links.

....saying that though, it will destroy your page rank.

If you pay anything at all for a link Google will either ignore it or penalize you. Link farms and other places that sell links are getting penalized heavily by Google lately.

rank..?!...how if someone clever in your class share the answer of the test...that is the principle of pagerank, you share the rank...so your site will lose the rank power...

I don't know why they would frown upon it seeing the links would be off better quality seeing people are paying money to submit them! They would also have more relevance seeing someone is willing to pay in order to advertise their site.

I'm not too sure if Google cares!

It's no secret that google does not like bid link directories, they consider it to be spam.

I think it would be okay if it was a strict niche directory, where all the sites are on the same subject so it would be useful to anyone interested in that genre, but I don't see much use in general link bidding directories and I doubt Google does either.

I think Bid Directories are like Disco - "DEAD" :D As for what G thinks of them, that would be something you would have to ask them.

I would think they see them as link farms and not of any quality. Basically any site will be added to a bid directory for a price.

If you link to some directories which has high PR,i think maybe it is usefull for you ,but too many directories useless for you,i think.
