Wondering what is considered a low(bad), average, and high(good) CTR rate by google for adwords? Thanks.
Completely depends on your keywords, relevance, and positioning. There's no right or wrong answer to this - I have a few campaigns that anything below 3% would be considered "bad" (branded/highly targeted campaigns), and other campaigns that a CTR of above 1% is considered great (fringe keywords, etc..).
While it does depend on the campaign & market, I would consider <2% to be poor, 2-5% to be decent/average, and >5% fairly decent. For me, if my CTR is below 1%, it comes as a sign to me that I can probably either make my ad or keywords more targetted, though of course as well sometimes a low CTR is just unavoidable. -T
If your CTR is above 2% then you can say its good CTR but, generally speaking its not good ctr or bad ctr. On what basis the CTR is being calculated Quality of your keyword Relevency of your adtext Historical perfomance Minimum bid value So be careful with your keywords while selecting and select your target audience.
Ctr is influenced by position also. If you are No1, a ctr of less than 2% is bad, but if you are No 6-10 a ctr of 1% is very good.
Are we talking about google search or content here? In my experience it makes a huge difference. 1% for google search=bad, 1% for content=good, IMO. Also, for content campaigns it makes a difference wether or not it's site targeted. For site targeted campaigns I delete the sites with very low CTR as they are too expensive. For my search campaigns my average CTR is 8%, for site targeted 0,5%, and for content 0,05%.
