'God' (assuming you mean the Christian deity) is a made-up character. You could compare him/her/it to Zeus, a Greek god. 'God' means nothing to me (at least not more than any other imaginary character does). Jesus Christ was a person that lived around 20 AD (or so). He probably actually existed, and he probably did do many good deeds. He wasn't actually resurrected (and all of that), this is a common myth.
There's been another thread with exactly similar title posted last February 24, I didn't think it's allowed. Anyway, Jesus Christ our God means everything to me. In life and in death we all belong to God. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the King of kings, the Lord of lords. He is our Creator, our Saviour, our Redeemer. He is our Jehovah Jireh, the Great Provider; our Jehovah Rophe, the Great Healer. Apart from Him we are nothing, Without Him we cannot do anything. Only He is Almighty, and He deserves all honor and glory. Halleluiah to the King, our God Almighty, Praise Him!
To me, god is our first stab at explaining the whys and whats of our universe. There was a time when the human race was sufficiently intelligent to ask difficult question but insufficiently intelligent to answer them, so it invented this catch-all explanation that it must be an invisible man in the sky doing it. You can almost picture the scene where a primitive human looked at the horizon waiting for the sun to rise and then the question popped into his head "how is that happening?". But because he had not even the concept of astro-mechanics he thought about how things move from one place to another in his life. Someone moves them. Then he came to the obviously flawed, but at the time logical conclusion that it must be a man doing it, it must be a man pulling the sun and we must make him happy by following the rules someone else said he wants us to follow, Rules such as giving money and food to the man who this god decided to speak to. Of course, religion these days isn't as absurd as this. Today the religious believe in more rational things like genital mutilation and symbolic human cannibalism to keep the magic man in the sky happy...
did you read the "no theists" part? This thread was made to be a counterpart to the one for theists. I agree with stox- god is a failed attempt to explain the universe. jesus was just some guy that may or may not have existed.
God to me is the creator of lightning... if it wasn't for Zeus, we would not have such a beautiful event to watch.
Yeah, I believe I answered this question a week or so ago. Jesus Christ is a single part of the Trinity that makes up who God is. He was God in the flesh and died on the cross when he didn't have to for my sins. He took on the punishment that was due for me because of the sin in my life.

most of the member here are Christians so they Bring in Jesus in the talk every time we people discuss god and universe.... I don't know anything about Christianity at all, I have grown up in a society where i was always told to FEAR god..... My parents and all relatives practice Sikhism....... So i had the religious believe which was mix of Sikhism and Hinduism(as 70% of india is hindu) I grew up in a society where my elders always told me to thanks the almighty(formless, endless and eternal) God...... They always told me to pray to him when i have a problem.....I was told that without HIS permission not a single dust particle can move in this world..... So i always prayed from my childhood and always had an imaginary Friend....I always thought because i am good human being he shall help me in all way.......my life and its success is in HIS hands......But i never took or read any formal religious scriptures........ Then in my teens i started asking questions..... Like why doesn't HE reply to us? Why the world is the way it is? If he is the ultimate CREATOR, OPERATOR & DESTROYER then why there is so much suffering in the world that not even one soul is satisfied? I was such a strong believer that I talked to God more than anything else in this world..... But as i have grown i have seen people around the world have 1000 of different religions, believes....... But no one yet no one can explain who it is? Believers say that he Cures our Problems? My question If he operates the world why there is a problem? So God for me now is something that i was Taught to believe,.....it Was never natural to me........now it is nothing but an imaginary concept which i am now trying to foget after 22 years of my life.....
asking for no rationalist (theist) comments, is a typical approach of the religious people. Religion in short is: "a. develop theory", "b. ignore contradicting evidence", "c. works great! everything is explained". so... you are in stage b...
I'm atheist- this threads purpose was first and foremost to mock the thread of the same name. Actually, irrationalist was made, more or less, to exclude people in stage b.
God - Result is sure if we pray to god about certain thing, provided absolute effort has to be put....
