When working with my SEO clients I always ask to tak pictures of there business if they have a physical business oir provide unique pictures to me. It is very important in SEO!!! There are a lot of onpage issues that Google considers to be important...address on site, privacy, terms etc and that includes unique pics...make sure to provide the pic a 'alt' tage with the keyword you try to optimize that page for...all are a tick and helps to give your page a higher score to help in better rankings.

There is a lot more then just correct meta data etc

    Good luck
    Arjen

Yes, I'm still agree with you. but here we need to know that, when Google does not read the images, it only consider by "alt" and "title" tags. and it is possible that we can use different alt and title tags for a single image in different places. then how can it duplicate.

After panda updates Google has started to penalize duplicate images which is responsible for website ranking.

it'll be hard to detect duplicate images for it is not 'readable' by spiders, so alt is used to make it at least distinctive to search engines. But in terms of online business, using private image for other purposes is another issue

No, Google doesn't penalize for duplicate images automatically, because the program can't read it. I think you might have some trouble if you don't change the filename, but probably not. However, stealing images off the Internet that are copyrighted is illegal, and can get your business sued for copyright infringement. Free stock photos are often seen on sites, so your customers might recognize that you're using a stock photo. You're really better off buying the photos for your site from a site that will also sell you the copyright.

TJcreation this is incorrect, Google Image search can detect similar and duplicate images based on the color profile of that image. I just published a lengthy article and 7 minute video about this and how you can change the color profile in the SEO Tips area of our website www SEOtrainingSW com (I not able to post links yet, sorry)

If you go to http://www.google.com/imghp and click on that little camera shaped icon on the right part of the search box and paste URL of your image or upload your image there it can detect similar images which proves how Google are able to detect duplicate images. And this feature has been existed for ages.
