They are both social sites that send traffic to your website.

Yes , youll see lots of stumble and digg mentioned , especially the freebie section here at dp which is beginning to get on my nerves all this stumble 1:2 , 3:12 , 4:5 , whatever :)

Stumbleupon uses a toolbar that users can vote for your site. The more votes you get , the more traffic you get , in the freebie section here , DP'ers are stumbling each others sites to get up the stumbles.

Same for Digg.. , but be warned , Digg will ban you if you Digg too often , or if your URL gets "Dugg" too fast...

    Enjoy!

Digg also bans you if you ask for diggs on webmaster forums.

Yes, If you're new to Social Bookmarking as a webmaster I would first start with StumbleUpon and slowly build up your Digg account.

Digg tends to send more quality traffic, as the reader has an interest in reading the article, they may like the rest of the site that wrote it.

StumbleUpon normally just displays random pages and the quality from Stumbling is not very good, as far as your targetted audience is concerned. Unless the Stumbler did a keyword search and found your site that way, then they may be part of your targetted audience.

Neither of them is really good for SEO, but you can get traffic through them.
