    Hi guys,

I've had the below message in my inbox today and I'm not sure what it means, can someone explain

"IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email. This is cPanel stats runner on zar.zarpie.com!While processing the log files for user zarpiec, the cpu has been maxed out for more than a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of this email is09:28:18 up 11 days, 18:43, 0 users, load average: 20.89, 23.29, 25.53You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to run even with a high load; Edit /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run /usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes)."

    thanks Shaun

It means that your user, zarpiec has maxed out the CPU resources continously for 6 hours. If this is your customer, he/she may not be suited for shared environment. He/she is running a dating site with videos and 500+ con-current users online (at the time of posting). You will need to recommend him to use a dedicated server.

If this is yourself hosting the site, upgrading hardware is always a an alternative option as the cost can be jaws-dropping. So look for ways to optimise your server first, or download eAccelerator to see if the loads will fall. eAccelerator is used to increase performance of the PHP scripts by caching them in a compiled state. If this does not help, engage a management company to look into your server. I recommend http://www.platinumservermanagement.com/ if you have thought about that. Additionally, http://www.litespeedtech.com is a also a good choice, but you will be required to pay for the license.

Je, wizz I've only just moved up to a VPS system because my bandwidth was get blown away.... I'm going to have to look into eAccelerator first I think. I'll have a look into the other two options.... see if the code could be tuned.

My last option which I hate... is I'll have also think about controling the amount of users on the website at any one time, which kind of defeats the object of creating a good website.

    thanks for the info

I can help you analyse which VPS and providers are better for you if you do not mind sharing this information with me.

    1. The amount of dedicated CPU and Ram resources you are getting from your VPS.
    2. Your Storage/Bandwidth usage
    3. Amount you are paying per month for your VPS

Pakistan and India are your main traffic, so I would take into consideration when helping you to analyse your provider.

I think that is not easy for the end user to analyze. In this situation when your web hosting company asking you to move you have nothing to do but move

You/your user are reaching your provider allowed CPU utilization.
Try to talk to your provider first and see what they offer. You may be asked to more powerful plan.

BTW you still have put a limit somewhere. There is no plan from any provider could satisfy "unlimited" needs in terms of no. of users, CPU utilization, amount of RAM, etc.
