Page Rank is an honorable status for a web page which is given by Google after Page rank updation. For getting Page rank it is necessary that how many quality relevant back links for your page.
Take a look at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 or http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53 Will tell you how important PR is
There are two PageRank. One is actual PR and how this PR is calculated noone knows except Google. Second one is toolbar PR which appears in the Google Toolbar as a green line and IMO this toolbar PR has nothing to do with your site's ranking in Google SERP. In Google webmaster central they have discussed regarding PR and also give importance to PR. And This PR is non other than the Actual PR.
Yes, I hear that oft-repeated but erroneous comment frequently on DP. Let's say that I'm Google and I call you saying I'll make a one-time exception and give you a lifetime, unchanging PR. Which of my three offers would you choose: • PR1? • PR4? • PR9? I'm guessing if I turned that into a poll, I could pick which answer would rank 100%.
It's hard for me to believe that it means "absolutely nothing" maybe it doesn't hold as much weight as it used to but it's still nice to see your sites with a high PR.
There are lots of web masters who will pay big bucks for a back link form a web page with a high page rank. Page rank can be extremely valuable if you are planning on selling links.
And yet strangely enough, people who say PageRank means nothing won't hesitate on an offer for a free link on a low traffic PR6 page that has nothing to do with their niche...
It enitrely depends on how you intend to monetise your site. If your plan is to make money by selling links from your site, then it is very important otherwise not as much. Besides working on getting good SERP rankings instead of chasing PR blindly will help you increase your PR as well.
That is very true. I submitted a page to Digg, and saw it was indexed by Google in less than a half hour. Amazing.
Yes I would choose PR9, but if I phoned you and asked if you wanted $50 with no strings attached you would most probably say yes as well. The point I'm trying to make here is very simple, PR isn't that important. Recently my most popular blog when from PR4 to PR3 which suck right? Wrong. Right after dropping on PR Goolge started sending more visitors to my site that went from 3400 visits per day to around 4200. That happen in a week. Earnings for that blog increased nearly 100%. So this is my message. Google please take the rest of my PR and start sending me more traffic, I would greatly appreciate it
