One or two sites per month is light speed in DMOZ. Let's pick a category at random: http://www.dmoz.org/News/Media/Journalism/Journalists/ check the last time it was updated [Thursday, December 25, 2008] Merry Christmas.

I would guess 1 year from know, they will add every site that is waiting now and in one year they will start adding every submitted site within 24 hours....

ooops, my alarm clock just interrupted my sweat dream

I'm not sure what kind of verbiage you're using to sell your SEO service, but you should never tell a client that you will guarantee their listing in DMOZ. Because the reality is, no one can guarantee a listing except the DMOZ editors themselves.

DMOZ is a not-for-profit organization, and the directory is run by "volunteers" so they really have no obligation to list anyone's site.

Whether the directory is corrupt or not, that is a whole different topic. I know there are some bad apples in this group of volunteers because I've seen some of the bullsh*t adsense sites that are listed in their directory.

I am not sure if you can get online dating sites listed in dmoz especially in this competitive environment. There are thousand and one online dating sites already.

Do you mean truth? true is an adjective, truth is the noun - very silly barely-literate little boy.

I have been trying to get some of my other sites into DMOZ but its taken over a year and still nothing. I know they are good quality and better than the majority in the choosen subject area.

I wonder how long before google ditches DMOZ or something radical happens as it seems to be getting 'out of date'. This is bad for googles image.

That is so not true. I'm just very frustrated with DMOZ. My boss is breathing down my back trying to get listed and I'm just simply venting in this forum. I can't just simply move on because this is my job we talking about. My boss simply does not undertand that philosophy.

To the extent that some dating sites are spammy, I would agree with you to a limit. However, this this is not that type of party. We are talking about high quality sites that clients invested lots of money to create and market.

The sites in my signature are unique social networking and dating sites, I don't think that they are anything like the sites currently being listed in Dmoz. Please review them to see what I'm talking about.

Perfect example, the category in which one of the site would go under Top: Society: Relationships: Dating: Personals: International: S. This category has not been edited since January 2008. There are currently 12 sites, and they all are nothing like the site I'm trying to list, so to address your point, a surfer would not be spoiled for choice when the choices are nothing like the sites I'm trying to list.

Absolutely not. It's not a topic that I'm familiar with or am interested in. Further, I've no intention of creating an evaluation on request precedent here :D.

I don't doubt that there are a few pearls awaiting evaluation amongst the dross - but few editors would find it rewarding to evaluate a pile of rubbish just to find those few. Somebody probably will some day, but please don't hold your breath. Instead, I suggest that you focus on other means of promotion.

Sorry, only just noticed the above.

If your boss is going to hold you responsible for the actions/inactions of a bunch of uncontrollable anonymous volunteers who have different objectives to him, it might be time to think about getting a getting a new boss :).

I dare you to show him this post :D.

I think what she is trying to say, that her boss is expecting her to go beyond a bunch of uncontrollable anonymous volunteers and care less how she is going to achieve that.

BTW, how she’ll know if her next boss won’t be as demanding as her present one?

    :)

I hate Dmoz and their listing process. It's like some elite club.
