What do you want from directory??

    Hello everyone!!

    I made this thread because I`m making in this moment web link directory and I want to know what do you want from directory. What to do to make you satisfied and make you glad because your link is approved in that directory.

    I hope I will get in really quick time so much good answers. I need it because, like I told, I`m uploading script right now and I want to make my directory really good.

    Lots of sub-categories is always good so then we get a backlink from a page related to our site.

    I think the worst thing you can do is to have no sub-categories or very little.

    A directory should also have a clean design (or clean as possible) with alot of white space, not like allot of other directories which are full of ads and banners, although a banner at the top is normally alright.

    Another good thing is to have a directory that accepts deep links as long as there in the correct category.

    1. No tricks. Straight deal... free means free.
    2. Limited advertising -I know this is how the site makes any money, but in-your-face and all over the place adsense is really annoying. Just a few ads will do the trick.
    3. Following your own rules. Lots of directories use the default rules or create some variation, but as you read the links you find they don't even follow their own rules. Makes it more like a spam-farm if you don't.
    4. Quality websites listed, not a free-for-all. There are lots of sites that are basically fake sites for SEO purposes only. These degrade the quality of your directory if you allow them into your site. If you know much about Google penalties you will know that if a bad site links to you, no problem, but if you link to a bad site... that's bad for you and everyone else who is in your directory since the directory becomes useless.
