Hi everyone, What key matrix do you put in your progress report for a client? e.g. alexa traffic rank, number of indexed pages...
tailer it to the clients stated goals, that you hopefully met. no point to putting in impressive sounding metrics if it is not relevant to the CLIENTS bottom line.
Yeah, I agree with this one. For sure you know the knowledge of your client in terms of SEO. If he is an expert, I'm sure he doesn't want some extra infos that do not actually help other than to add a space in your report. If your client is a "newbie" or has little knowledge, give him a report that suits his status. This is a very important part of optimizing a client's site, communication...
I'd put the following: - Traffic stats from start date to now - Increased Revenue from start date to now - Number of backlinks acquired - Number of pages indexed from start date to now - Rankings Report That wouldn't be a bad start there. The first 2 are the only ones you should really show though, because at the end of the day, that's what matters to the client, unless you're measuring something else, like a reputation management campaign.
You must talk to the client and discuss what are their goals. Before the project commences, a baseline report detailing how the site performed on selected keywords, how many visitors came to the site or how many conversions were made. A couple of months after the launch, you can measure the performance of the site to include: 1. Pageviews and Visits 2. Conversions (purchases, bookings, registrations, downloads, subscriptions, etc) 3. Keyword rankings 4. Competitor performance It also includes what are the elements in the site that did not perform well as expected, analyze and make recommendations and implement them. Also, if you are into link building, identify new link sources such as sites and directories and describe methods of acquiring them (membership required, one-off or recurring payment, reciprocal link, etc). This process can be repeated on a defined period say, quarterly or monthly.
