I am an Open Source guy, mostly because I am cheap, but some how being a proponent to Open Source puts a nicer ring on it! ïŠ Any way, I am in need of more functionality from my web reporting. I use pre-canned godaddy reports now but they are not doing what I need. I would be interested in knowing more trend information, more about my visitors browsing patterns and to have an ACCURATE count of unique visitors, repeat visitors ect.. Is there any Open Source/Free ware anyone would suggest my using? Or if need be, any, ‘pay’ software I should consider. Could you please let me know how you’re using it and how it’s benefited you or your business. Thank you,
On the server side of things I run awstats. I've found this to be the best server side stats. I've ran most of the other server side stats scripts and none work as well as awstats. From an external side I run google analytics. It just works for the most part. The only issue I have with is is that it is javascript. To get counted by analytics you have to have javascript enabled. I know this is not a huge issue for many people; I run technical sites and encurage people to run with javascirpt disabled. if anyone is interested in this check out the noscript extension for firefox.
Has anyone seen good tutorials for using Google analytics? For example: how to use to to best track how campaigns are going and that sort of thing?
I have placed Google analytics on the job, however and desiring the real-time. So I see suggestions for: StatCounter Awstats I'll lookinto each and see what the Pros and Cons are. Incidentally what does 'Pro' and 'Con' stand for? Thank you all for your input!
