I used Dreamweaver WYSIWYG, but now we all know that makes it ugly,non-standard code so now I only use it in code mode and write by hand, but I was just wondering what people who use-also tell me if you are a designer, programmer, etc.

Here we go again! Will this be a one-year thread that repeats all the same answers? Or a three-year thread?
Simply you can use 'Notepad' if you are an expert one but for a novice web developer you may use any WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Visual Studio etc.
Thread #11,915 on DP asking the exact same question this year alone. It says a lot about the quality of posters on DP.
Quality is going down by the day here... It's seems to be all about post count on this forum vs. post quality... ugh..
I used to use Crimson Editor, but I've switched to notepad2. http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html I like both because I can turn the annoying distracting acid-trip color syntax highlighting bull off (Honestly for me it makes code impossible to read) and I can turn off tabbed editing which being a multiple display user are a massive step BACKWARDS in functionality... see, restricting everything to one window is effectively useless when I want to see my PHP in one window, CSS in another and scripting in yet another on an entirely different display. Besides I don't need tabs on an editor, I have mastered the use of this amazing thing called a "task bar".... or just plain alt-tab. Anything more than a flat text editor is probably just shooting yourself in the foot. Thread 11,410 of you effectively being a dick when a nube asks the same question. Oh noes, not new people who can't find something in the search. Much less that the answer *SHOCK* may have changed as new versions of software or even new software comes along. At least the OP has the common sense to recognize what a steaming pile of manure Dreamweaver is. Though I'm certain the drop in quality of posts has nothing to do with attitudes like that, the switch to the bloated pile that is vBull 4, the need for me to run three separate adblocks and SELECTIVE script blocking to even make the site usable... No, that has nothing to do with it. Next thing you know HTML 5 will be being pimped here as the best thing since sliced bread like over on another 'pointy' headed website instead of being called out for the bloated pointless garbage that seems carefully crafted to set coding practices back a decade.
90% of the people on DP are either "nubes" and just got their first computer or deserve everything I level at them. Why are you back here? Get kicked off Sitepoint? So you *did* get kicked off? I agree but calling SP "pointy headed" is being too kind. Is Tommy gone? Absolutely agree and told Ian Hickson so. Instead of scientific thought, it's been turned over to script kiddies.
[ot] Nah, just got bored, and wanted to see if they've gutted out the crap here yet... instead it looks like they've bolted on even more. Besides here you can speak your mind so long as it's not to solicit -- getting a bit sick of biting my tongue. [/ot]
Yep. And then you get noobs here like @AliceWonder who don't understand my head slapping moments. I wonder if Stomme will come back, too.
Built in FTP/live editing, coloured syntax highlighting, and dropdown code completion = WIN. Macromedia DW8 is my code editor of choice - no matter what deathshadow says about it. I've tried all the others, and only PSPad comes close to DW for me. It's the end product that matters. We all like what we like.
