I don't think that the rules would have been needed if it was not overly abused. I started a thread a while back and gave all details in the opening post and had several PM me with details and interested. None of these every followed through and if you check there posting history, they had hundreds of the same type of posts to build their post count. Even with the new rules, there are still lots of these posted everyday.
Totally Agree and some OP benefit from the ''pm the url'' to get their thread bump! I wont post the url thread here, but one thread with 32 post, and 95% of them are ''pm the url'' it's annoying.
thank you that clears it up for me the rules seem like they just keep changing and making it harder and harder for people to put up postings. And if you ask a moderator or ask a question and its not in the right spot you get nailed too....so in either case thank you for clarifying the information for me and others that have read your post.
There should be a choice for none. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. Those people posting "pm me the url pls" just want to get the url. And the OP just don't want hundreds of people PMing him about that thread. I mean do you want a hundred people asking the same question?
It's a bit hard to sell something if the thread is buried by 500 other threads created in the next 2 days. What's the alternative?? Here's one...if your thread is buried...close it...make a new one...every two days...would this be allowed?
i guess the trick would be getting a moderator to close it first. i have asked that threads be closed, and they haven't been closed. once a thread is closed, you may start another.
