Hey guys, What do you think of my new site??? Do you like the design?? Ive done quite a lot of work on it, www.ecampsite.co.uk Cheers, Craig
already welcomed you in another thread, so no time for that, just my findings: * snowflakes are cute on an established site: recuring users will see the difference and see that you are working on your site, a new site should not do that imho. * your menu is in the same 'box' as the rest of the page, it does not stand out. Draw a black border around it or change the font, background or something like that, to make it more different. * your listing of campsites is like this: Newton Mill Camping Park - Click Here where only the Click Here is clickable. Remove that, and make Newton Mill Camping Park clickable. Will help you in google results, and is a lot easier for your users. * you have camping sites grouped by region, why not create an extra page for each site? like "/cornwall/hayle/treglisson-camping-site.html" instead of the link http://www.ecampsite.co.uk/cornwall.php#2? * your data is coming from a database it seems, optimize that (see my previous point) * General look and feel: I hate camping , but your site gives good information with a modest layout, that works for me! keep it simple! and in general, the blabla.html#spot works great for users but not for search engines, create different pages for different blocks of content. Good luck with your new site! just my two pennies and to save copy and paste stuff: www.ecampsite.co.uk
Thank you very much for that, I will take into consideration the things you have mentioned and see what my little brain comes up with. You know how it says you need 10 posts to create a hyperlink?? I have 14/15 and it wont let me, do you know why that is??? Thank you again for your in depth take on my site!!! Craig
I like everything about the page other than that horrid green in center. Think a green more like the darker shade on this page would be better. Other colors are in blue green family not yellow green family. That middle is pea green. Like logo, and subtlety of page. Shannon
Yay, now you can click on the link!! Much more user friendly, I find that if you make a reader actually do something, like having to copy and paste the link, they are far less likely to do it than just clicking a link!!!
aside from this being in the wrong category of the forum, the snow in all truth is annoying, it forced my scrollbars to move and that is annoying as hell. The site is okay looking, it works, but please for the love of all that is holy remove the snow falling.
Thank you very much!!! It took me a while, but after lots of alterations i really liked this one!!! Its nice to hear someone appreciate it! Thanks!
Ok, i will get rid of it as soon as!!! Was just an idea, and unfortunately i didnt have FF on hand before i put it online!! Doesnt change browser width in IE but ive seen it now in FF and it is v.annoying!! Will teach me not to do things in a rush!!
It's not that it was bad persay, it was just very FF memory intensive and it is what I personally call a "forced experience", same class as midi music and flashing text, your content should be good enough to stand on it's own without the need of "tricks", those things are played out and anything that might disrupt a users experience can lead to a lost customer. just my $0.02.
The snow falling... yikes... makes the right nav bar jump funny on my screen in Firefox. Drivin' me a-bonkers!
Seems to be a problem when viewing with Firefox 1.5, actually it may be the snowflake java thingie making the page shift around... Logo is pretty good though.
