What do you think about this?
I think the world should have an international language (i recommend English) which every educated person of the globe should know. The globalization will be than much more meaningful. If you have ever been to a country where nobody speaks English then you will realize the necessity of one common world language.
The same way a country should have one national language which can be spoken by all its citizens. :D

Why should every educated person know English?

English is already an internationally used language. If you're talking about only one language for the world - then forget, it ain't going to happen, neither makes sense.

There already is such a language, it's called Esperanto and was created for that very purpose. Here's a bit from wikipedia about it.

"Esperanto is by far the most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language in the world. Its name derives from Doktoro Esperanto, the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof published the first book detailing Esperanto, the Unua Libro, in 1887. The word esperanto means 'one who hopes' in the language itself. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy and flexible language that would serve as a universal second language to foster peace and international understanding."

Your idea is very possible, it is up to the people if they want to implement it. But I think having a one language is a bad idea.

Well, where I'm from that would be the universal THIRD language, considering English and Spanish are "it" over here. But Esperanto still hasn't taken, and it never will.

I would preferably use the English language since it is being used by many people almost in all continents of the globe..
