    This sounds horrible to me. If a system like this falls in the hands of someone who can misuse it, people and opposition leaders will start losing power and rights all over the place.

    I would go for # 2.
    In my social media profile, I would like to include widgets (like you do on wordpress), not just a fixed profile of "what the site think what content should be in"
    a mix of myspace, but with user's widgets, I think that would personalize better each profile.
