Hi guys, I bought a domain that looks like this: keyworddzine.com So for example instead of websitedesign.com it is websitedzine.com Do you think this looks ok or should I keep looking for a better two word domain? I'm really struggling to find an alternative and I like "keyworddzine.com" but not sure if others will. Part of me thinks I'm agonizing over this no reason and should just start building and another part of me thinks I should keep looking. The two words together would make up my main keyword phrase so I'd only get the benefit of type in traffic from the first keyword. Any opinions, suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers, Toby
I think that it depends on your intended audience or market. I don't think that websitedzine.com is like websitedesign.com. I don't think that #dzine.com is anything like #design.com, in fact #dzine.com sounds more like #magazine.com. However I may not be in your target area or market. I'm from England where we pronouce things differently! How would websitedezign.com (#dezign.com) sound or has that domain already been taken?
Thanks for your reply Privateer. I'm also from the UK. I checked and "keyworddezign.com" is also gone. I guess I can reveal my domain since it;s already registered. It's "lifestyledzine.com" as in lifestyle design. It's about as close as I can get to the full keyword phrase. The alternative is pretty much coming up with a brandable domain and possibly leaving out the keywords/keyword phrase.
There is rarely a perfect domain name left. Give your "lifestyledzine.com" a try, I expect it will be just fine. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for your reply Latin. I think I will go ahead with it. I don't think I can find anything better and I've been brainstorming for a few months now. Time to get to work!
Hi wikiwarrior, As Latin said those perfect domain are rare nowadays. I only said what I thought about the domain itself. As you know it's best to have a .com and the current trend is not to use hyphens without good reason. If you have been brainstorming for a few months then I guess that you have made use of a good thesaurus. Good luck with the development of your website.
Yes I've tried everything, all the usual tools to find a good domain, thesaurus - antonyms, synonyms etc - dotomator, other generators, you name it. It used to be fun looking for cool domain names but now it's quite a depressing experience! Especially when there's so many I find that are not even being used by the owner. Anyway, c'est la vie.
Yes it's depressing and also annoying to find that all the domain names that you can think of are being held and and not used. However you do get some people who get it wrong when trying to pre-empt registering .co.uk domain names. I'm signed up with a few domain resellers and regularly receive emails about .co.uk domains for sale, here are a few that I've had in the past - remember that .co.uk domains are generally for people in the British Isles who use English spelling not American spelling: DiscountTires.co.uk, $169 [Tires are spelt tyres in the UK] AluminumChairs.co.uk, $129 [In the UK aluminum is spelt aluminium] FootballPants.co.uk, $169 [pants are NOT trousers, in the UK pants are underwear] DiscountVacations.co.uk, $149 [people in the UK take holidays not vacations] The above domains are examples of worthless .co.uk domains because the original register thought that they'd make some money but ended up wasting money!
