Tupac was the best rapper ever, I listen to his songs all the time. I believe he has a negative effect on society, as he glamorus street life. He makes it seem being a drugdealer,or doing drugs or a being in a gang is cool.
Quite an eloquent and accurate way of describing a lot of Tupac's lyrics. Here's an interesting quote from Ice T: "if you believe that I'm a cop killer, you believe David Bowie is an astronaut," Tupac has had far more No 1 singles, and Top ten singles than either Dr Dre or Snoop Dogg which arguably makes him more mainstream pop than either of the latter.
Name any dr dre or snoop song that takes a serious look at society or any of it's troubles.... that is if you can figure out what "nizzle dizzle fizzle mizzles" translates into english.
Perhaps I missed it... exacty where in that song do they take any serious look at society's problems? Point out the exact lyrics .. because the only thing I hear (and yes I have the song) is a couple guys braggin about crimes they never committed
I believe Howard Hughes's life was ten times more active, interesting, important, and aspiring (atleast to myself), than Tupac or anyone else I could think of. Somewhat accurate story of his life: http://www.warnervideo.com/theaviatordvd/ The man lived on the edge of aviation, chanced his whole fortune for his ideals in the movie industy and flight. Which all nearly killed him or drove him near insanity (although he was obessive compulsive for most his life). Even though he wasn't flawless as a person he was far beyond the common man in contribution and history. The man's a legend. He innovated the flight industry (in almost every conceiveable way), and to this day he has the second biggest private biomedical institute in the country (after Bill Gates). He was a multi-facet innovator of all valuable industries (ie art, aviation, and medicine), .... He went beyond these things as well, but when I think of someone to look-up to generally, I think of him....not Tupac. One of the few times I truely respected Leonardo DiCaprio's acting. JMO...
The little of Tupac I have listened to gave out a positive message, but maybe as importantly, suggested people actually think and consider their actions and the consequences.
All I know about tupac is he can rap. I love the way he rap. Aside from that I won't comment about his personality.Cmon, the guy is dead and give him some respect.
Hitler is dead, Jack the ripper is dead, Crippin, is also dead! Death does not demand respect LOL <just kidding>
It actually goes much deeper than that... just look at this totally authorative account of the song on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lil_Ghetto_Boy:cool: Kidding. Look, it sounds like you are saying all music that doesn't sing about societies woes is pop which is obviously not true. Just because most of Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre's songs are not about societies woes does not make them pop. Plenty of those old blues singers could hardly be called pop and half the time they didn't sing about the problems of society. Snoop Dogg is a member of the crips, and was in and out of jail after he left high school due to his crack dealing amongst other things. He's shot at least one guy for which he has been charged for murder. (To which Jonny Cochran got him off on grounds of self defense) While the guy does come off as some self parodying larger than life caricature there is some legitamacy to his lyrics being real life experience.
No.. as a matter of fact I wouldn't consider The Chronic nor Doggystyle pop music. I'd consider everything they've done after (their success) pop music Please explain to me how "fo shizzle my nizzle jizzle bizzle mizzle" or anything similar to it, is anything other than pop music made for mtv to appeal to 13 year old kids? Actually he wasn't man enough to do it himself, he had to have his bodygaurd pull the trigger. Blah blah.. 50 cent sold crack and got shot.. does that mean Wanksta and Candy store are anything other than pop music too?
touche... But the fact still remains that Tupac is the most successful selling rap artist in history and he has more top ten and number one singles than either Snoop Dogg or Dr Dre, how does that not make him pop?
There's a very large difference and I'll make it very clear right now: 1. Making music to express yourself that becomes popular because it's good 2. Making music simply to appeal to a large number of people for profit Now, can we please stop comparing 1's and 2's as equals?
Yeah, I especially like his lyrics about torturing his wife to death and raping/murdering his mother. What artistry! What passion! "When I was just a little baby boy My mamma used to tell me these crazy things She used to tell me my daddy was an evil man She used to tell me he hated me But then I got a little bit older and I realized she was the crazy one And there was nothing I could do or say to change her Cause that´s just the way she was ... Slut, you think I won´t choke no whore Till her vocal cords don´t work in her throat no more (Ahh) These motherfuckers are thinking I´m playin´ Thinking I´m sayin´ this shit ´cause I´m thinkin´ it Just to be sayin´ it (Ahh) Put your hands down bitch I ain´t gon´ shoot you I´mma pull you to this bullet and put it through you (Ahh) Shut up, slut you´re causing too much chaos Just bend over and take it like a slut, ok ma Oh, now he´s raping his own mother, abusing her Worse snortin´ coke, and we gave him the Rolling Stone cover? You´re goddamn right bitch, and now it´s too late I´m triple-platnum and tragedies happened in two states I invented violence you vile, venomous, vomital bitches (etc., etc.). The Eminem has said these lyrics are a way of "getting rid of his anger." The Eminem is Master of the Masturbatory, Baron of Bullshit. As with a good many "artists" who suck people into confusing the Grand Vomit of One's Demons for Art of the Highest Order, The Eminem is, I hope, soon passing into the dustbin of "what the hell were we thinking?"
Not sure quite who 'The Eminem' is, but what did I say wrong then Tarantino makes violent films, does that make him bad? Hitchcock? bad? Sad? Artist? Goon? Art is subjective, so many people are happy to label some art as bullshit, why? It is the same with music, if a lot of people like and appreciate it, who are others to say it is rubbish? It is subjective, the quality of something can not be measured by the normal ways of 'it woks or it doesn't'.
