I bought R_i_n_v_o .com (obviously remove the underscores) domain a few months ago and now I'm thinking about using it for a site that I will be starting similar to servicemagic.com and bidclerk.com (home improvement services marketplace). I can't decide whether using an obscure word like this would be a good idea. I think the word is simple to remember, and brandable, but I wonder if it would be better to have a domain the is more descriptive of what the site offers. Any comments on the domain name would be appreciated.
It depends on how big you think you can get. A brandable name is better if you are a large popular site, but a keyword related name is better for smaller ones.
i think the name is really brandable well, any name can be brandable if you can make it popular enough.. Thats was just my Opinion Good luck! - DarkX
I like it. I think catchy words are better than descriptive words. Just look at google, yahoo, xanga, del.icio.us, furl, digg, etc. Honestly I think it's fine
As mentioned, any name is brandable really, just depends on what you do with it and the steps you take to instill brand awareness. As for the domain itself, I like it - personally I think a domain stands more chance of being brandable if its unique and is not derivative of either a commonplace term or an already established brand; which means you have a decent headstart - now you just need to actually create your brand =)
