Over my spring break I cooked up a site to keep me busy. It is http://www.letmeparty.com You can register and add your blogs to the site, it supports Livejournal, Blogger, Wordpress, and Xanga. You send an SMS to the number at the top, it recognizes you by your phone number and the SMS messages gets posts to all the blogs you registered! So what do you think of the site? Are the ads positioned ok? Is it responsive enough? Is this a cool or stupid idea? Thank you, nemik
I could be a good idea - I certainly wouldn't use it myself, but then my blog posts tend to be a bit longer and drawn out than anything I'd ever want to type on a mobile phone. But, what about something which keeps your sms's, so if you get an idea for a blog post, you can sms that, then retreive it at home (on your website), write up the post fully, and then post it automatically? I imagine that would be actually quite trivial to add to your website, now you have the infrastructure in place already. Site design is good, but try to re-organise it to fit in a 1024 wide display - no-one will see the sky-scraper google ad on the very right, as most people will have to scroll to the right to see it. I'd massage the text a bit, try to make it a little clearer and not as verbose. Also, does it work in every country? If not, make sure you mention that. Good luck with the site! Jason
Thanks for the reply Jason! Hmmm, yea saving the SMS's like that wouldn't be a bad idea, I might add that as an option if I have time. The reason I chose SMS was because that way it works from ANY country and any provider in the world! Also, most blogs can MMS, but it is often much more expensive and doesn't work from anywhere. This is nice for just a quick post and great for backpackers/travelers or people who just want to get a quick blog entry through for a thought they had that instant. Thanks for the tip about the ads and the text, I'll see what I can do about it.
Very good idea, you may want to mod some of the comments on the front page so that there isnt too many 'testing' comments. On the main page an image would be nice to focus the eye, maybe a mobile with your number on it.
excuse me but as audience of the site we need to know one more bit of information before start blogging THE COST !!!!!!!!!!!!! cost of sending sms from everywhere to your site
Thanks for the comments tip Amy, and a picture would be great too. I think I can find some logo or picture that would go well with the site. newera, the cost is free except for whatever your provider may charge you for SMS. obviously i can't list every single provider in the world and how much they charge for SMS....
Interesting.... too much space is being wasted I think that your landing page should be treated as prime real state. Take advantage of all of that space. Good luck
