I'd pay up to $10, but then again, I'm not a poster buyer and therefore my input is worthless. :)

    Good luck with your venture!

I'm an artistic poster buyer, and I'd probably pay around 10 for 1 or 18ish for a set of two... but I also would likely only order if accessories were also available (even just a very basic frame). You'd get a larger order, and I'd only have to order from one place. But I'm also likely to order multiple prints at once, b/c I do that kind of thing when I'm completely overhauling the look of a room, so I'd more than likely order from someone with multiple designs that appeal to me. Of course, that's just me.

just go for it. honestly nobody is going to think your idea is as good as you do.

first tip for small business people is don't share your ideas cause people will tell you how to change it into their ideas. So many successfully people have been told not to try it, if they had listened we would be without many great products today.

Yes, and 98% of all small businesses fail, because they "just go for it" and don't think first.

I'm definitely NOT saying to stop. (Not sure about anyone else though) All I pointed out is that any smart business person will get to know their market well first. After that, you won't know until you try.

    Good luck with it.

Motter.. no one is telling him he can't make the business work. The problem is that it's not a well thought-out plan as it stands, precisely and primarily for the reason Jason mentioned... the market research is lacking.

well, in the last 27 years of my life, i never spent more then 0$ to buy a poster, let alone a set of 2...

so i'd say personnaly if the poster really appeals to me, i'd pay 10$ max.

I have not bought a poster since my college days...way too long ago, I am afraid. However, I asked my 14-year-old daughter who may be a target audience for you. She is not very money-conscious, unfortunately (way too spolied by her parents), but she said $8-10 is a good price for her for a poster. By the way, the anecdotal evidence that you are asking from us is no way related to actual market research.

Thanks y'all for all the great feedback, I really appreciate it.

I have been thinking about my numbers and the more I think about it, I wonder about the conversion rate.

With $6,000 a month in adwords, I'm planning to get 85,000 clicks at $0.07 maximum. I have a list of more thatn 100,000 keywords targeted to History, long tail phrases so I'm pretty confident that I will get the clicks at this rate and feel secure about the targeted audience.

Out of this 85,000 clicks from search traffic that click on my ad after making an history related search, I need to convert 600 sales to be able to live of my concept...

That's 0.7% Conversion rate. 650 sales for 85,000 PPC targeted visitors.

    What's you numbers?

Are my numbers do make sense or I'm out of the big picture? I just believe that 1 out of 143 visitors from Adwords will buy my product. Is it too optimistics?

    Thanks!

( DP needs an e-commerce section for this kind of issues for online sellers!)

What someone else's numbers means absolutely nothing to you. First of all, they are probably in a different market. That ends that right there.

If they were in the same market, they could be targeting different stuff and that would end that.

If they were in the same market and targeting the same buyers for the same product as you with the same keywords as you, they are probably using different copy and that ends that--again.

This is all Marketing 101 stuff, which is good since you can learn it in no time. Before you leap in, I'd recommend allocating $30-$150 for some beginner marketing books. No, not the stupid ebooks out there. I mean an actual marketing book.

Amazon.com is a great place to find used books, plus you get to see what others thought.

Also, when you go to fire up your new campaign, test first. Don't just throw $6k or whatever into the pot and take a stab. Start with a couple hundred and see what's working.

You could have the best product and keywords and rankings on the planet, but if your copy is weak, you'll lose a lot of money.

Don't expect people to come and just automatically see a poster and think buy buy buy.

    Good luck.
