Im a newbie and doing a few logos for a couple of websites I own. Was wondering what you think? thanks for your time
They're all extremely bland to be blunt. :\ They're also not logos, they're logotypes. ebiz house has a nice touch to it, but it still needs alot of work on it. :\ Browse for some text effect tutorials.
You need a better use of typography and alignment. Maybe try incorporating some graphics into your logos as well.
I can see where your coming from about blandness about the suityousir, but I am looking for a simple 'sophisticated' logo. All the big names in mens fashion are mostly a simply a typeface. Please lets continue discussion
Make them a little more complex, there a little bland. No one likes a insane banner, but no one likes a bland one either. Theres something about those that are attractive. Yours some how are just a little to basic, and need some work to be original.
yeh I gues they are pretty bland. I suppose I should be a bit more creative and take a look at those tutorials. Thanks guys for your input ill post my progress here!
They're not the worst beginne attempts, but try to find a connection between what you are trying to promote, and the logo itself - i.e. if you are selling life insurance, you do not want to be experimenting with a bouncy, fun font, likewise if you are selling childrens toys, you will avoid formal type. The problem you have with comparing your logo to the big designer brands is that they have an established name and therefore they can afford to display just that with not much else. Keep trying though and you will get somewhere
used the proper kind of typo to suit it..is it black and white your corporate color? the ebiz house..try to used blue and white..make it 2.0..
Sorry, but they are very amateur looking. This is not to criticize, good design comes with lots of practice. You have to develop an eye for what looks good and bad and that is just a first step. After you develop that eye you still will not necessarily know how to make a good logo. Again, this takes lots of practice. Your best bet is to have someone bust something out for you cheap rather than banging your head against the wall. Even a cheap logo from a junior designer is better than a free logo from someone with little to no design skills. By the way, if you want to go with straight text then do it. It won't be a logo but you have less to screw up when you go with extreme simplicity. \Also, I believe there are legal issues with using fonts that someone else developed and calling that your logo. You need to make sure you have the proper permission to do so.
The sophisticated look can be achieved through a careful selection of fonts. It is also advisable for startups and small-sized businesses to have a unique touch somewhere in the logo which can clearly distinguish them from the competition.
Just remember when your trying to create a logo or a name font you have to design a new font. Its hard to go out and use a current font that everyone else on the planet can use. It takes away from the originality. Any good simplistic text logo is a custom font. take the Jack Daniels label. It looks like a simple script or cursive font. BUT I guarentee you CANNOT find that font anywhere. It is exclusive to that compant, copyrighted and trademarked. Just keep that in mind when creating a text only logo. Originality of the font is the key.
Have a look at gtempl.blogspot.com or other graphics sites, google them. These guys have a few great free logos and logotypes, and templates you could choose from or at least make an idea of something better for yourself.
woah thanks for all the feedback guys its much appreciated... really! Anyway i was looking around for inspiration when i came across this thread on Sitepoint : http://contests.sitepoint.com/contests/2951 It was someone else looking for exactly the same thing as I am trying to make. BTW I made a quick update on my suityousir.co.uk logo if you care to comment bit like the yves saint laurent I want to stick to white on black as that is the way to go in regards to fashion logos.... colours go out of fashion. thanks for the urls by the way i'm checking them out atm
I agree with the other opinions. In a b/w logo I´d try to make it smoother. You can even see the difference between the both examples you had in the last post: The YSL Logo looks somwhat smooth, while your logo seems just a little bit like you threw single letters on a black sheet, know what I mean?
