I'm looking to find a new Coldfusion host. I''m considering moving up to CF8.
Do you have a shared windows cf8 host who can support SQL2000 or SQL 2005 you would like to recommend?

Heres a couple I have looked at.

    http://www.crystaltech.com/

    http://www.hostmysite.com/index.shtml

    Please share your thoughts

    Thanks a bunch

I have worked with sites on both and both of them have good reps. If I were to choose one over the other, I would suggest HostMySite since they are more visibly supportive of the ColdFusion community. In fact, they offer free hosting for any ColdFusion User Group.

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback.

Have you ever worked with Network Solutions. They currently only support cfmx7.

I have been with them for about a year and a half. I'm not to happy with the support they offer. It is hit and miss all the time.

I will look into hostmysite further.

I wasn't actually aware that Network Solutions offered CF hosting.

To be honest, I am too much of a control freak to use hosted solutions for my projects. In addition, with much of the work I do it is far too risky to be on a shared server. We actually lease colo RHEL5 boxes from The Planet. After going that route, there is no way I could ever go back to a hosted solution after being spoiled with the freedom it brings. They have a special running right now for just under 200 bucks for dual Xeon processor bad boys with enormous amounts of RAM and bandwidth. It doesn't take too many clients to justify having one of those. ... just another option you might want to consider anyway!

I have used CrystalTech for many years, they are quite good, I've also tried HostMySite during their trial for CF8 and they supported the free trial as good as any paid service.

Network Solution?!?!? I've never seen an organization combine the highest prices with the worst service as they did with domain registrations. I left them 8 years ago and haven't heard that they got any better.....OK, OK, I will try to let it go.

Hosting.com is a great CF host.

Network Solutions has CF hosting? I almost threw up when I read that. Sorry, its hard to like that company! It's kind of like how I was reading google adwords that Network Solutions is doing SEO as well...

    Hi,
I have about 7 CFML sites on crystaltech. they are pretty strict with what they allow and don't allow, which actually is a good thing. For example they will shut you down if your quires take to long on the shared servers, so this forces us to write better code and we experience much less down time due to other peoples bad code.

Customer support is as good as it gets for a shared host, just follow the rules and its all good.

I did have some colleagues complain about the amount of DB's they allow on one server ( which they say are 100's) . I have not felt the sites running slower because of it.

    Thanks Ori
