I have launched an information website but seems like its getting high bounce rate. Any suggestion or opinion on improving the site? Opinion on design, content, anything would be appreciated! URL: whatiscpaexam.com Thank you www.whatiscpaexam.com
I find out some of the points to improve visibility of your side. - The top navigation text is not align proper for example, study CPA etc. - There are no <h1> Tag uses - Use fev icon for the site - The banner not looks good. please re create the banners. - In content area...3 section heading should be little big and blue or orange colors to stand out. - The site is not w3c validate
The bottom part of your page seems very clean and has a good layout, but the top part could require more attention. - The navigation icons seem very dominant. Reduction in size could give more power to the content. - Navigation seems to be a bit jumbled, and need to be edited and cleaned up. - I agree that the banner could do better with some more work. - Logo image and navigation is not aligned. - Code could be cleaner. Perhaps more semantic ids, and only use ones that are necessary. - More balance with consistent colour scheme throughout the page? I agree that the orange colour should be more widely used in the titles on each page - Consistency with the logo throughout the website?
Thank you everyone for your reply and great advice! It's so helping. I did change what you have suggested. like changing color of headings. I will work on others too. I need to work on site consistency with the logo since I've changed it. What do you think of the slider? is it too large? I don't know how to insert SlideDeck on home page - I tried to align and remove texts on navigation but when I put text-indent: -9999px; for study cpa and career, it cuts off the image and can't even click it. - Home logo i've wanted to put on left side of "question mark", it moves to the top and gets lost. - images show across the page which is not too nice looking. this is very annoying but don't know how to change it.
Observations: It's not an information site. There's a whole lot of shakin' going on! Non-standard English. Just those three things would make me click away pretty fast. I'd lose all the gimmicks, including the jumpy text and irrelevant slider, and focus on getting real content that pre-sells your affiliate offers. You mention bounces - I don't doubt it...but what is the exit page that most leave from. That will give you a couple of good clues as to where to put some attention. The CPA-related phrases should be in natural language constructs since real visitors will be landing on your pages. For example, change "What is CPA Exam" to "What is the CPA Exam". I think you're heading in the right direction! Best of Success,
Thank you! I will work on editing articles and hire someone else. Jumpy text and the slider definitely needs some work. Is it better to replace slider with another content?
Right at the top, you need something simple explaining what the CPA is, in a cute little box. (after all, look at your domain name) For each state's CPA requirements, just have the image of that state (like you do) with the others in a large area. Like this: http://screencast.com/t/9apyIM7Md8T Notice how all of the album covers are stacked together in a block. Do that with the images of the states, each state image should be a link to more info about the CPA requirements there (separate page). If you want an incredibly long page, put the CPA requirements for all of the states in a list like you have now on the home page. Then, when a user clicks on a state's image, they could be smoothly scrolled down to the information. If you use my idea of the state images in a block, put the additional info below them. Also, on each thing with additional info (http://screencast.com/t/TmFIx6TTHwVR), you should have the image of the state in a smaller box that fits around it. Right now, the box stretches wider than it needs to be (http://screencast.com/t/zTdRlt76). Get rid of the extra space in the picture. The links in this email will only work until 5/20/13, by the way. -Tony
First off all i found an error the social media links on the right top corner are not right add your own links. it will better if you design a decent looking logo for your site.
the main thing here is that you don't have a design for the content, it looks like too much text and nothing around that make me feel like I want to stay reading. You need something nice enough to make the user feel the idea of staying to read what you have to show.
