Respected Members.. Recently My directory http://www.mydirectorylink.com is in Google's first page at 9th position on keyword "Quality Web Directory". Is it good? or I need better keyword for it? Suggestions/Comments are highly appreciated.
You need a better keyword. I don't know many that would search for that. Your traffic should be proof of that.
Well, I am commenting my own thread I think the keyword for directory doesn't matter much. Because lets say a submitter is looking for free lists of quality directories. So he will type "Free lists of Directories" in google to find the lists not single keyword to find one directory. I might be wrong but just a thought. What do you think?
keywords in the domain name definitely help but as you say go for the long tail also as it can be easier to rank higher for those longer combinations of keywords
Some times il type in up to 8 words, its a common mistake for webmasters to think that searchers type in "word" or "word anotherword" You should see some of the stuff i search for
Honestly, "Quality Web Directory" is an obscure search phrase as well as an oxymoron in most cases. When you think of conversion words, think of "action phrases".
It's not a bad keyword phrase i am not seeing it at the #9 here though maybe it's google local result. Is anybody else seeing at #9?
Any keyword phrase you can rank well for is a good thing. A top 10 listing is even better. You are in some ways quite right about the folks searching for directory lists rather than a single directory at a time. However, as with any site, the goal is having folks find you no matter how you achieve it. (Of course that would be without employing black hat techniques and becoming a spammer.) In your other thread pertaining to keywords I gave you perhaps the biggest hint I possibly could - you have to promote your site for both submitters and visitors to have it do well. Once you start doing that, you will quickly see from your site logs that is indeed the best keyword strategy of all for a directory. Good luck.
