Google Latitude... Type in someones mobile phone number and see where thay are... hmm privacy invasion much?

Good idea yes, and the fact that you can change your location and appear invisible is also good.

But how long before it gets twisted into something bad, like Google Streetview, that had alot of bad press, what with military bases and that being shown, things like exits, guard rotation, that kinda thing.

I'm not too sure I like the idea of Google Latitude.

    How about you?

She'll have to accept the invitation, she'll get sent a text message asking her to access a certai url withing her mobile browser. If she doesn't it wont work.

That's not the point though zippy. May be if you have a stalker, you'll change your mind :D

I didn't know about this service. Mind you, they've only uploaded the video (English voice!) on youtube on 3rd feb.

I can see it's good for parents keeping an eye on kids etc. Bit like twitter, init?

There are no privacy issues because you can't "stalk" someone who hasn't already approved you to do so.

I don't understand the concern because the only people who can see you are people you want to see you.

It's set up on my phone and my wife's phone and until we went through the approval process, we were both invisible to each other.

Pretty slick for certain occasions. Besides there have been parallel products for some time like Yahoo's Firebird. Brightkite is similar as well but less automated.

The whole thing about the military bases is blown out of proportion anyway. You cannot check guard rotation etc because the data doesn't live update. The only real concern is plotting boundaries but even then it could be really out of date.
