What do you think if a directory has a DIGG like extension for relevant articles?

We have recently implemented this new project on EONTE:

    EONTE - SEO BUZZ

It focuses only on SEO and Internet marketing articles and sites, which is a very relevant field for our directory. We plan to build up a good library of resources for all webmasters through SEO BUZZ. So what do you guys think? I would love to hear constructive comments on this concept. Do you think it is appropriate?

In the meantime, would love for all of you submit your articles and to vote on the good ones already there. We already have built up quite a good library of quality content articles, which I think will make a good read. Looking forward to your comments & your participation!

I am afraid it could be abused by submitters.

Cool that is my first experience with Pligg. Not bad I submitted a few of my articles.

I think the bury function could be abused, but it surely adds character to your site. Just going to be one of those testing things. I like how Mr. Sullivan has sphinn.com setup.

you are right, will definitely need to police it closely until I get more moderators ;)

nice relevant articles, will surely help towards building SEO BUZZ as a good SEO resource for webmasters.

What do you mean about the bury function being abused? And was sphinn setup like this too??

After a careful review I plan to blog about if that is ok with you. Yours is very similar to sphinn.com, but I don't think sphinn has the bury function.

Where that comes into play is if a submitter was to bury an article that was in front of it to achieve higher ranks on the page. So lets say that same submitter convinced 30 of his fellow blog readers to start burying articles. It is sorta a wide stretch, but you would be surprised at what people will do.

Doesn't bury subtract positive votes from a submitted piece?

Sure, wld be glad to oblige ;)

Yah, i'm aware of the bury function, but it is up to the administrators to set the amount of bury votes required to remove an article and also it shld be quite easy to spot trends if we notice the same people burying the same articles all the time. Nevertheless, we are on a constant lookout in this launch phase, tks.

btw, your recent blog post (not sure if its yours) should do quite nicely on SEO BUZZ ;)

I think this is great idea because fresh content has not become necessary for dirs. I liked it :)

I like the idea, http://eonte.com/seobuzz/ i would suggest to keep font size smaller for the headings there e.g. Search Engine Optimization through Yellow Pages : Natural Search Blog it makes the layout bit complex.

Btw joined it and will be submitting few articles there soon :)

Tks to all for your kind words. I'm optimistic that this new feature will provide greater value and resources for webmasters apart from just being a directory. Now comes the arduous task of convincing bloggers to submit their quality articles to SEO BUZZ. ;)

Tks coolweb, constructive comments you have there. Noted and will look into it. Saw your articles too, think you got a couple of 'buzz-es' already! :D

I think directories + digg is a good idea. Adding new, unique features and content is always good. Your site looks great! :)

I think its great as ive seen on some where you can digg thier articles as well
as rate the article which helps bring those interested in the topics at hand..

I would also like to mention 1 more that im very impressed by... Stumbleupon...
Someone must have made an article regarding 1 off my directories or something and
it sent more hits in a few days then engines referring as this directory is brand new :D

    thx

That's odd. I've gotten 2 direct hits from it, and I have 5-6 stumbles I believe. Oy. The internet is an odd place.

yes, that's the whole point of creating SEO BUZZ. It is to provide an avenue for quality SEO articles to be highlighted for references. I've had amazing success with Stumbleupon for my blog: Lifesperspective. At times I get 1000+ hits on a single article. Hopefully SEO BUZZ will be able to provide good traffic for all submitters soon.... :)
