What do you think of 3D animations as a marketing tool?

    Hello,

I have just started out as project manager at Addexxo International SA in Geneva (www.addexxo.com). We create professional marketing tools to make sales people more efficient in front of the clients and give companies larger internet visibility. For example, a technical product could be easily explained in few minutes of animated 3D, and leave the sales person with more time for negotiation with the client, rather than spending his time explaining the features of the product itself. I see a lot of companies now have 3D animations to promote their products in different languages.

My question is: In your opinion, is a 3D animation an effective marketing tool?

    Cheers
    Charles

I think you would get much better performance with 2D text based animation. Animated infographics are doing very well - like

3D or 2D whatever... if it explains how it works then it works... easy as that.
In addition to this, you will skip the annoying customers asking "how to use it" :)

gregbowen, when you say performance, you mean in terms of getting your message across? I guess this depends on the type of company your are targeting. If you are making an animation for a bank or insurance company, I think that 2D would be very good (also in terms of costs). But what about a performance fuel injector, or a medical sensor, you would want to go inside the motor/body with the camera and show the details visually.
