Hi all- Came across this thread over at the websites for sale forum on sitepoint.com: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350500 The site is not all that special or anything but the earnings that he is claiming to make (and I have no reason to doubt it) seem pretty cool. I am not intersted in buying th esite it is out of my range right now etc. However he made a comment in his second post that obtaining the CTR that he has is done though using non-definitive content that makes the user want to clikc on the ads. Any ideas what this means? I am half way interested and kind of have some ideas in my own mind about it but wondering what other people think. Check out his sites and read some and see what you think. Maybe not your writing style per se but it seems tobe lucrative. Thanks Ichibanda
It's a simple but common strategy for AdSense-based sites: provide enough content to display ads and get decent rankings and only link to other pages within the site. If the user wants more information and they can't find it on the site, they end up clicking one of the ads or using the "back" button to go elsewhere.
Hi Eric- First let me say I like your book and excited to read the new one you have comming out soon. That is what I was thinking. Not adding a lot of other links and keeping content pretty short which leaves the user wanting more information. I also notice the content is typically about specific products and include pictures of that product next to the ad. So I am guessing with his target audience bieng rather young many visitor will click on the ads just becuase they see a picture of what they want. But at only 250 visitors a day on average and making $20 or so a day from the site he has some pretty nice stats. It is not like Bratz is a high paying keyword. Sure wish I could get a few sites with only 250 visitors produce in the double digit range. Thought it can't hurt to bring it here and see what everone thinks. Thanks Ichibanda
Actually, I am not sure whether he is telling the truth about everything, but the earnings on the number of page views are not too far off assuming he has about 10% CTR.
Thank you very much! I hope you'll like the new one, too, which at this point will be released in March, not February. Too many things to do I'd love a review up on Amazon if you wouldn't mind taking the time to do it.... Absolutely. Building sites about consumer products is a great way to make money with AdSense. Or Chitika. Anything where people are looking to spend their money is a prime candidate for an informational website. You don't have to have a high-paying keyword to make money. What you need is traffic that clicks the ads...
Thats why its important that your ads are placed where visitors will find them using the heatmap strategy. Often some people just put the adsense in an isolated box at the bottom of the page which is a bad idea.
it means that is not completelly defined and its dynamic. They dont really work well with google SEO, but if you dont care about it you can use it freely with no problems
