What do you think is the best backlink building plan?

I'm pretty much tired of "randomly" building up backlinks because you lose track of things and get unmotivated. I was wondering if anybody here could come up with a "goal-oriented" daily plan for building backlinks. For example, maybe you could submit to 30 directories, find 5 link partners, and write 2 articles in 1 day. Just some random example of a plan I could use. Building backlinks is so boring that I just can't do it. Or maybe I'm just missing a few techniques that other people are using.

All I can say is my friend is super hard working and spend 10-15 hours week posting on forums and blogs, and we have almost 3000 backlinks after 1-2 months of having bought the domain.

Yeah, you are right. If you do things randomly, you sometime get off the track and get demotivated to continue on working. What I did is to create a daily goal before doing something. You can set the numbers yourself. You can do forum posting, blog comments, article submission and bookmarking. Or you can add to that list as you go on. Set your specific number for it. Just vary it to make it more natural.

My backlink building plan is also not goal oriented. I submit to a random number of directories on random days, the same is with link exchanges.

I wish we could be more constant while building links.

Building back links is sort of like taking a hike in the wilderness. Plans, goals and strategies are a great idea but staying with them is the key. Usually when I begin working in the morning I have a goal of how many links I want to add and very roughly where I want to add them from, then comes a dose of reality.

I always find sites/ articles that I did not anticipate and then my plan starts to lose focus as I am exploring that avenue. Some days I am able to follow the plan, others not. Particularly at first it is easy to become unfocused and lose motivation. Develop a plan, try to follow it as best you can but be very flexible. Part of learning this stuff is being able to respond to differant opportunities, being open to new ideas. The learning curve is high and one of the reasons building quality links is a job for weeks and months, not hours and days.

i try 5-10 each day, still very hard to be motivated. Seeing the backlink count increasing every week is only motivation i get. Use my site to buy stuff online if your shopping online in US.

Ive stoped with directories, There useless for traffic and for PR imo, I know every link counts by theres not many directories that have a PR assigned for every catagory, So your backlink is coming from a PR 0 or N/A Url

There are a few directories out there that will deliver you traffic. It's usually the ones that make you write a really long description. That's because most people are forced to write something unique since they can't submit the description that they're using on every other directory.

Initially I have started using some tools which collects some links for me with their contact ID but sending mails through it waisted a lot of time.

After that I have started posting at some link building forums and blogs, registered in some link building program on the web but the mails I got are from professional link builders with some spamy link pages,

now I am collecting back link of my competitors and manually contacting them though it is taking time but the result are some how satisfactory.

But I am also looking for some thing better than this...

The best advice here is to maintain your discipline. It's very hard to stay focused on building backlinks when it sometimes takes weeks for Yahoo or Google to pick them up. My only motivation is opening Y Site Explorer and seeing the #'s slowly go up.

Most social bookmarking sites make your backlinks "nofollow" and blog posting is a questionable way of building backlinks for SEO purposes. I even recall reading somewhere that it's considered "black hat seo" but I haven't confirmed that.
