I have seen many directory owners saying XYZ directory --ABC PR STRONG. I have my own conception about a strong directory --but wanted to put it open for debate to fellow directory owners. Please express your views freely.:p

I think a directory with very high PR on innerpages like PR5+ is a good and strong directory, also must mean it has a good index PR, and a good Page Strength.

Think it includes all the points that you have listed
And a lot more factors come into the matrix, a strong Directory needs to be strong in all areas

All about the PR of inner pages.

A lot of directory owners will cheap out and not have subcats on mainpage and will try to funnel PR to increase their PR. So you wind up on page 4 with a PR2 and you're supposed to pay $35 because the home page is PR5 but if they put your subcat a little more pronounced you'd be on a PR3 page but their homepage would be a PR4.

    I prefer the latter.:D

I think strong directory is the one that goes to gym and pumps some iron and doesnt take too much of steroids :). I have been trying hard to get my directory to start working out, but its becoming chubbier just like me... might try hypnosis on it though...

PS: using someones tool tells you its page strength (ur last option on ur poll) ? Just wait when my directory starts pumping some iron, will take on any of the directories that show high PS in a dual :).

    Cheers

There are a lot of criteria I look at as to what makes a strong directory. How much traffic does it get? How many page views does it get? How do the bots like it? The value of a link in a directory isn't just how much PR or PS it has, but how often does it show up in your stats as a referrer?

If I have a link on a directory page with PR5 that's not bad, but is it more valuable than a PR2 page that sends me 5 converting clicks a month? I'm not sure, but it's something to think about. In addition to which directories are good to get linked in for SEO purposes, let's not loose sight of the bottom line. A link that converts has got to be worth more than one that just ups my PR a point.

I think I like to see the quality of link profile.

If backlinks are from good sites with high PR, then I could consider the PS is strong.

A little different from PS, I also check their rankings at Google SERPs. If they rank high, I usually buy links.

Thanks, I already had it installed and removed it, because was getting to much external links on the detail page, and I didn’t want to use no-follow.

High PR innerpages because it is the place where your link will be, also high PR backlinks.
