First of all I would like to say sorry if I made this post in the wrong category, sometimes it can be a little daunting to make a thread on DP, you'll never know when you will be hit by an infraction.........I know, I know....just read the rules I have for a longer time been keeping a close watch on my bounce rate on my various sites and I have been wondering..... What is a good bounce rate ? I'm relatively fresh within the SEO field. I tried many things and I learned from my mistakes. I'm far from an expert in SEO but everyday I get a little wiser, especially after discovering DP. It's been a big help Thanks to all the kind-hearted people here on DP for sharing their expertise. I had no idea in the beginning what bounce rate meant. I thought it was just important to rank high on whatever keywords you set your goals for. When I finally reached my goals or getting closer I didn't see a significant rise in sales, contact or sign ups. I then found out how to check bounce rate and I found out one of my sites had a bounce rate of 80% !!! Even my noobish mind could figure out this wasn't optimal. One of the reasons I believe was because I made a blog on the site in question and that blog was very general and I guess many people left after reading that single post that they found on google. Now I started to rank higher for my actual keywords and people come from google straight to my mainpage instead of one of my posts. I could see a drastic improvement in my bounce rate, it went from 80% and all the way down to 40-45%.........but I still don't believe this is optimal. So what do you consider being an optimal bounce rate and do you have any advice of how to improve your bounce rate ? Thanks again to all the users of DP who find the extra time in their busy life to help others. I hope one day I will be one of the "gurus" helping out the noobs on DP.
