they may not be useful to put them in the header meta but they can be very useful in - enhancing the search function of the script - creating tag pages that group all listings having that keyword. These pages can be indexed in the search engines and rank high for that keyword.
Just because google doens't pay too much attention to them doesn't mean other search engines don't. I'm happy to keep using them.
I'm pretty confident Yahoo still ranks sites based on keywords from my research, anyway. To be honest, if it's not harming you - then why not?
They can be of the utmost relevancy and a great selling point. phpLynx for one has this facility by default.
I agree with pipes & others, meta description & keywords are still important. Dont ignore them. Cheers.
