As a computers tech and web dev, I have the best hardware, and I still think that vista sucks.

    specs:
    9850 phenom
    3.5gb ram
    raid drives
    8800gt
    dual 22"
    ...

Vista is alright, I think more people hate it since there not capable to do some of the things you are in XP and it just takes time getting use to. More people will start to like it than hate it.

I don't like it. I tried using Vista (in a net shop) just for a few days and I didn't have the patience to use it some more. For me, it just looks better but doesn't work better. There are still a lot to improve with it. :( Some programs are not compatible with it.

No appearance difference. Slower than XP. Locks up every other time I plug in my USB floppy to upload pics.

I tried vista ultimate after hearing all the hype, needless to say it gave me one of the worst nightmares ever. It worked fine at first then all of a sudden it crashed on me, and I was running a 3.4ghz, 4g ram...ect computer. It cost me to lose a whole day of work, I ended up blogging about it and titled it, "3 useful things you can do with Vista" and made this graphic to go along with it.

Vista by itself is ok, it is an improvement over XP, but the issue is they tend to overdue on those frills and thrills and those effects which together are really a resource hog. You need to find them one by one and disable them. For the average users, they probably wont know how and it is certainly resource hogging for them.

I am not sure of the rest, for desktop OS I just need one that is fast and can run what I want thats it. But Vista is a bit overkill on the effects side. Really hope that their design team remember to cater to the average users and not those who wants a showroom display set type of effects.

I've tried it on a loptop and it was too slow. I'm planning on getting a new laptop so I'll probably go with vista. At some point xp is going to be phased out.

I thing it is unnecessary!. Because it uses system resources a lot.

Nice picture. Vista works very slow on my station. It takes 2-3minutes in logging-in and logging-off.

hmmm After using it for more then 6-7 months I feel Vista is far far better then Windows XP, Vista out beats XP in almost every department, compare Vista with XP early days, it out performs XP in a long way.

Much faster, safer, better, plus less power consumption.

a Thumbs UP for Vista. Specially Business Edition.

I'm getting really annoyed with the special highlighting effect on the files. Well basically the whole Mass Select files with drag and drop thing is really messed up in vista.
Sometimes I have to click over and over to successfully mass Select a couple files to drag them.
    ..Its irritating..

In XP you click on the file and then mass select. In vista you have to fiddle with it or select an area that doesn't have anything in it. Which is no good if you trying to get some files stacked in between multiple files. It just fucking pisses me off, I'm going to get XP again. I can't stand this OS.

I never try Vista before, so I can't say much about it. Still loves my XP though.

I use vista. Got it on my work computer. It's been an up and down process. I've been working my hardest to get it to play nice with everything, including our server but it's an uphill battle. It's super slow.

I would say stick with XP and wait for windows 10.
