What do you think about Type-in domains ?

are they able to get some traffic and a good SE positioning ?

So domain name is more important then keywords to Search engines ?

 

I'm not an expert so please don't take this answer of mine as a solid clarification to hold on to, maybe someone else can say that this is not entirely true.

My answer is that it definitely matters what the content of the domain name is in combination of the keyword used in a search engine, it is my expierence when doing a search on a specific keyword...if a domainname has the specific keyword in it... or even better it is the domainname then you are very much on top in the SERP's.

You would get a very high position. I don't know about other search engines but G gives me that impression.
Once again this is my impression and can not be taken as a given or fact.

 

if you have a type-in traffic domain then SEO is still important but you have a head start as you are already getting traffic without anyone searching via Google etc

So generic type-in traffic domains are very valuable

 

i thought that type-in where interesting because when one person searches on google "blue bananas" and you have www.bluebananas.* or www.blue-bananas.* then you are on top of results , upper in every case of a site www.bluefruits.* that has keyword optimized for selling blue bananas

I had received my first member on one of my sites from a type-in. I had bought the domain about 2 days prior, my site wasn't even finished or ready for production, but I had someone sign up during the interim of testing. Of course, I didn't turn them away, within a week I had at least 150 visitors and my domain wasn't even in the search engines. I assumed they all were type-ins. I did ask my first member how did they find my site they said "They were typing in random keyword-related domain names looking for the service I provided and my site was one of the 3 they typed in"

 

Like my thread in yahoo section, I have decided that foo-bar.com is better than foobar.com .

Ranked number 1 from 9 million pages for the keyword, when there's no content ain't so bad.

 

Will wait to see more proofs from your theory then.

By the way, is your theory only applicable to Yahoo Search Engine?
