    hi,
    this is client host:

H/W used: 4 Dedicated servers, 1 Load balancer, 1 firewall

Web Application Server: Apache web server running a PHP driven website. (11GB web content, 8.5 GB log files)

DB Application Server: MySQL database engine. (8.5 for active DB, 4.5GB for daily backup)

Servers have a daily backup of critical data and the retention period is one month.

All the servers have a 80GB 15K RPM SCSI HDs

The web servers are load balanced in case one of them fails, active-active setup. While th DB server is single server with no redundancy. Also the file/log server I also not redundant.

what do you think ? can it handle heavy load...digg exactly beside normal daily traffic?
they want to shop for new web host for better price and services
Last thing what is your take on it ?

The only reason they would need that much power is if they had like 1/4 of the traffic of Mininova. They would at least have to be in the top 500 on Alexa.

How MySQL intensive is the site? There's a big difference in just loading html compared to adding 2 SQL queries to the same page.. there's even a bigger difference is you're going from 2 sql queries to 5 per page. Make sure your httpd.conf & my.cnf file is set to handle or at least queue 10k concurrent requests and keep an eye on any slow loading queries.

Change your KeepAlive timeout to something low, like 2... then change your ServerLimit & MaxClients.

You can also save your server if needed by turning off logs. All that opening/writing for each request can take it's toll.
