What do you think about this idea (All important news at one place)?

    Hello,

I try to create something “new” :) on the web and I came to idea why not to collect all important RSS feeds and display them in logical groups and as friendly as possible. I got idea by visiting Popurls web page, but I try to improve it.
Therefore I add some more improvements:
    • User can decide how to open links (popup window / new tab / normal),
    • User can save RSS feed (also available in Popurls),
    • User can decide how many stories will be per column,
    • I display pictures for those RSS feed, for which Popurls does not [Google news, Yahoo news, …],
    • If you pass with mouse over image it gets bigger,
    • And some more.

    The webpage is ChiliPress.com.
At this point I would also like to ask you, if do you have any idea how to promote this kind of web page?

    Thank you for your time,
    Ales

Cool name for the site, but when I went there, it took at least 10 seconds for all the pics to come in, and I have high speed. Your header, "Chili Press" took about four seconds to come in, also.

Think what it would be for the dial ups.

Eh, I guess it's no big deal.

Yes mythbuster08, this idea already exist, therefore I typed: ‘create something “new” :)’ ... ;)
I also use iGoogle (actual I love it and it is my default homepage), just I miss such kind of "all news at one place", therefore I create this page without NO ads.

Cheers & thanks for your comment.

I don't know why I sense some sarcasm and disapproval from the other comments. Personally speaking I admire how you have managed to collect something that everybody takes for granted like the rss feeds and put a nice compilation of news and information. I guess some of the people are like "Why didn't I think of this before". Well that's the way things are, you've got be original and the first one to do it. Or if the case is that this sort of project already exists, you have to make sure that you present it to the audience in a different unseen before way. Nice site, I really like it. Keep up the good work, man!!! ;)

turbulence: if i think that idea is really cool and new then i would not answer but steal it! posting a really new idea in public forum rarely is good idea itself, is not it?

ales: is your idea not simply "google reader"? grouped rss feeds? but it is your idea. go and make it fly ;)

Maybe is my idea Google reader (never thinking in that way), but I don’t like layout of RSS feeds in Google reader – no images, just plain text. An image next to story tells a lot; therefore I decided to create such layout.

P.S.: “if i think that idea is really cool and new then i would not answer but steal it!« - That is the way in which internet is moving on, isn’t it? :) :)

Yeah, I guess you're right about it. But do you think he would have posted the idea in the first place if hadn't implemented it yet?

He has already started the project and he wants some advice here or he just wants to promote it. Whatever.

I hate to tell you that you are far from the first. I know of at least one similar site that is between 1 and 2 years old.

That's not to say that you can't make a go of it. But, you are certainly not breaking new ground here.

Looks great! You just need to compress some code or something to cut the load time by at least 5 seconds.
