Hi, guys! I am expert work with Joomla and VirtueMart extension. I work with them few years. I use VirtueMart 1.0.X to 1.1.8. But now I am going to download VM 2.0 beta version, because began to use Joomnla 1.6.1. But I am not sure, so that's why I want to ask you. Does somebody use it? What can you suggest me to do?

I thought that at this forum all members are experts in web development and as I understood nobody knows VirtueMart. It's a pity!

To be honest I don't really understand what you are asking.

I use Joomla with Virtuemart and have done for over a year now to create some pretty popular ecommerce websites. It's just a shame that I don't take home the profits as the websites are owned by my employers haha.

Do you find it easy to use? It took me a few hours to get my head around at first but now I find it really easy to work with.

You are probably better off going to the virtuemart forum as everyone on their is using virtuemart, if it is a beta version then not alot of people are using it yet

Joomla and Virtuemart are a good basis to create an eCommerce site.
Joomla is easy to understand and Virtuemart offers a lot of free helpful features to present and promote products in an online shop .
Still, it might take a while for you to get used to Virtuemart's templates and main core, especially if you plan on making a lot of custom changes.

Ah man you updated joomla to 1.6 which is great but alot of virtuemart extensions made by thirdparty are not compatible with joomla 1.6. When I say alot I don't mean 3-4 extensions, there are atleast 30 that aren't compatible. I made a subdomain and did a test and it showed incompatibility. I'm still with joomla 1.5 which is still amazing in my eyes.

I agree with you about the incompatibility of 3rd party extensions with Joomla 1.6. But for me being quite honest, I wouldn't wanna use a lot of those 3rd party extensions anyway.

That's why, guys, I asked you about VirtueMart 2.0. beta version. It was developed for Joomla 1.6. It doesn't work with Joomla 1.5.

I found Joomla is great CMS and VirtualMart is nice e-commerce platform, but it needed a training before using.. Some times virtual mart fails to work according to expections. MLM Developers has given new enhancements to JOOMLA by MLM Application in php/mysql.

If you have just a few products to sell and you also offer content to share like a blog and/or static pages then a package as Joomla with Virtuemart would fit you. How ever if you are creating a website with several products and which is 100% focused on that then I would recommend the open-source webcart Magento.

I'm no fan of Joomla, why?

    Well Joomla has:
    - Ugly code!
    - Ugly themes! Customize or create a own theme is also not easy (compared with other systems).
    - Bad SEO options!
    - Many modules but no quality at all. Good Modules cost money!
    - Hard to customize!
    - Joomla is not secure!

Thanks for your feedback, it is really well-founded.
You know really I like Joomla and Virtuemart, but i think that soon Prestashop will take position. It has really cool design, but its problem is search, all good modules are also paid.
As for Magento I think it is very difficult for beginners.

Virtuemart is rather simple. It is a stable solutions with many templates, and alot of users. The number of users has contributed to the project growing alot over time. I use Virtuemart and Ecommerce has been rather good and easy.
