What do you think about .ec domains? Since they could be a good alternative to .eu

    Hello,
    I am interested to hear about what you mean in the case you are looking to register a .eu domain ( EU ), but the desired one is already sold and not available to register, to look for a .ec domain as a alternative way.

    .eu = european union
    .ec = european community ( in the reality it is Ecuador )

    What do you think about this alternative registration chance?
    Maybe that is a question belonging specially to europeans.
    Thank you, see you soon. :D

    .ec wouldnt be something i'd go for if the .eu is gone...

    Anyone knowing what .ec is for will think you are in Ecuador :p

    How about .ch for you if you are in Switzerland?

    They're (.ec) very hard to transfer, and very few registrars handle them. Furthermore, there is always a risk that Ecuador will change requirements, and cutoff existing owners. Think back to the .uk.co fiasco (meant to be an alternative to the traditional .co.uk).

    These are serious drawbacks. There is also a hanging question whether .EU will trully take off (i.e. meaning that the 2M sites will go beyond parking pages.)
