I am wondering what all you guys think about australia Do you think we have pet kangaroo's and koalas (coz you're right we do - just kidding!) and swim with crocodiles etc. I've been told a couple of times from overseas's girls we have a hot accent which was pretty cool I'm curious as to the answer!
I think it is a place on the other side of the world that hosts the rugby world cup every decade or so, that allows me an excuse to go there I also beleive you ALL surf, do no work, the women walk around in bikini's etc like they do in home and away and neighbours etc! Oh did I mention that when not surfing in bikinis you go walk about in the bush wearing a hat with corks hanging from it
Not just us in the bikinis - I live in a tourist city and wow we have some hot Europeans come over You paying out my hat with corks?!
At the moment we arguable are.. not to mention swimming, rugby... we even did awesome at football (we made it to round 2 until the italians pulled the biggest bullsh*t dive I have seen in my life (I was strangling my pillow before throwing it at the tv and going to bed at 4 in the morning swearing my head off [somebody took it pretty seriously lol]).. hockey... there are lots, can't even think of them all... pretty sporty country, not that great at the field events like sprinting, tennis at the moment we suck at Guess we'll see at the world cup
Dusty is what I think. You all live on the coast mainly as it's really the only habitable place there unless you know what you're doing.
Living in Australia, I think it is the best country in the world, my second choice of place to live would be USA, west coast.
It is like the Uk but without the bullshit politics, and WITH lots of sunshine (I know it gets cold and wet there down south as well. . It is totally devoid of this political correctness crap that is dragging down society in Europe, it is also an Island which I like, seeing as I live on one LOL. Oh and it is the home of Tas the cartoon character who I think is cool.
I want to visit australia someday, it seens so different and its so far from where i live and i want to live on New Zealand!
Yes I agree , by and large it is free from political storms , but some ugly incidents have crept there aswell. Like incidents about incitement of children of a particular religion to sacrifice there lives and incident of dress code which was widely publicised ....
You should have won that game, bullshit dive it was. Me and my GF lived in Australia for a year (studied), wouldn't even consider moving there permanently. Will come back though, plenty more to see, even if we travelled a lot while we were there.
I must admit... I don't think Australia has a good reputation. For a start, there's the whole prisoner/lazy person pressumption. Then there's the accent. On well spoken people it sounds good - but the accent of a poor/lesser Australian is really really grinding. It also doesn't strike me as a particularly cultured country - i.e. its not well known in art e.t.c. Australian films are unheard of and the ones I have seen have been terrible. On the other hand... You seem to have nice cities, hot girls and great weather. I also liked the kids show "Round the Twist" and your immigration policy!!! Also, Australia is the number 1 desired foreign destination for UK graduates... we clearly can't get enough of you.
Categorically disagree, across the board. Prisoner/lazy person - Have no idea what you are talking about, unless you are talking about its foundation as a penal colony, where prisoners endured some of the most brutal treatment since France's island exiles....we in the U.S. share with aussies a certain rebellious history with a certain monarchic country. For a beautiful piece of work on the humanity of this "island of prisoners," see Our Country's Good, by Timberlake Wertenbaker. From such a start, Australia has come to be among the best countries in the world for business, or pleasure. Accent - I love it. Says "I'm ready to be a pal" - no stuffy b.s., a native bon vivant and ready welcome to its lilt. Culture: Beside an artistic climate richly and well-deservedly renowned for its aboriginal art, the wealth of Australian visual artists, the presence of national arts training institutions such as N.I.D.A. (among many others), and thriving, national-in-scope professional arts institutions, such as Opera Australia, all put the lie to Australia as some sort of cultural backwater. In my opinion, Aussies have every reason to be proud of themselves, and their accomplishments, across many different spectra.
