I use both Adwords and Adsense, I use Adwords for a site I sell product on, and Adsense on a few other sites I use to try and make revenue from it. But, I try to make what you would call “Adsense sites†content rich, so the user has something to gain by stopping by. Maybe it is me, but I do not go nuts if my Adwords is not performing well, when it is not converting well I dress up my site a bit, and try to also make better sales pitches. Do I suspect some people are clicking on ads just for revenue, sure, at times, but I limit my budget and use the new time serving option, that has helped as I set it to the best times of the day that I get good conversions. I do not like thinking I pay someone for nothing, but all advertising is that way is it not? How many give away products have you received, where the people are hoping you go visit their store or website? I look at it as I gave someone a .50 or 2.00 item maybe and got nothing back for it, right? I just think all this yelling about “click fraud†is not as bad as people are making it out to be, I think it is driven by greedy lawyers to tell you the truth. I see that there are real scammers, using software clicks and such, those I would say need to be stopped, the rest I see as minimal. Am I off on this?
I do not really even think about how many of the click that I pay for are click fraud, but it makes me laugh when I see those .16 or .34 credits. Are thelling me that out of the $$$$ that I spend, 1 or 2 clicks were invalid?! LOL.
Definately invalid clicks is lower than some would have you believe. Some of those firms that track invalid click inflate the figures so they can sell their data on to lawyers who in turn make money for representing advertisers taht are "victims".
Google is improving regularly and improving their ways of tracking fraud clicks. I think you should add other sources of revenue on your site for which you have adwords.. like adsense. just to improve the chances of your earning from the users coming to your site.
If you are concerned about fraudulent clicks, there services out there that provide tracking and also a popin warning if adverts are hit multiple times. Its not a prevention as such, but there is definitely a deterrent value attached. I use a FREE service called clickreport.com
