Hello everyone, I know many people probably ask a question similar to what I will ask, but most of those people think making money online is a breeze. I understand that is not, which is why I want to ask some questions from the pros here on DP! I have tried many things to create some income online. I did Adsense, did not work out too well. Might try it out again if I ever get a website going with good traffic. Aside from that, I haven't tried much...I'm not familar with all the other PPC and stuff... I now do article writing which is not bad, but I would rather have a website like people on here, and gradually work towards pulling in a steady amount (key word "gradually"). Now, for someone starting out, what do you suggest? If you are willing to talk a bit via IM please let me know. If not, any of your suggestions posted here are of great use! I also wouldn't mind being forward to a link where I can buy an Ebook that has proven to be quite successful for people! I'm willing to spend money, something many beginners aren't willing to do. Regards Ben
Ebooks are mostly waste of time and money, they are mostly written by people who failed to make money from any other online business I have nothing new to advice either, but just some points from my experience. When you start out, you must have another job or source of income to depend on. Untill you reach a minimum assured return, keep your job. Best traffic is free - google. Put your best efforts to get a good SERP. Where you rank on google is what ultimately decides the success and failure of your site. Master SEO and clearly understand what is allowed and what is not. Never risk getting a penalty. Build lots of one way link from related sites. This is not easy, but this is the most important part.
primary and effective advices and way. That is what I am doing now . Trying to have a stable income from online earning while keeping my job .
I would suggest you do some freelance. Nowadays many people looking for designer and coder to code their website. And what more interesting about it is the payment of it is huge such as $400 for only design a company website.
My suggestion is to get into web hosting, the market is saturated(so you'll get it cheaper), but WH will open so many more doors for you, especially as almost every online business will require and/or benefit from a web site, then just go from there and expand to your real business ideas.
Freelance is the best way to get money but it's better take a look what the good niche for you... just think yourself... and make a research...
www.getafreelancer.com that's just a really good one I use to get free lancers but you can google it though
I doubt any freelancer site would be useful unless you live in a 3rd world country where you can afford to work for next to nothing, I don't mean to offend anyone but I live in the first world and I just couldn't live off that amount
I agree with Scoty on the freelancing part... It is hard to compete with people in India, Romania, etc... As for your own business... To me there is only one tip of any value... DO WHAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE!!! That is the #1 most important thing! If you are starting a business just based on the desire to make money, it isn't going to work out. You need to do something that you will enjoy doing even when the income is not there. Something you want to do because you ENJOY doing it. If you love sports -- think of a way to turn that into income. If you love writing -- bingo! If you love hanging out with your friends -- if you love family -- if you love God... DO WHAT YOU LOVE! If you want some suggestions, go to the URL I will IM to you and I can make you some free suggestions. It is a service that I have not yet launched but I would be happy to give you free advice. But I need to know about YOU. Your skills, your interests, etc...
I have to disagree with you greatly on that, you have misunderstood the concept of freelancing, yeah it can be someone's day job, but others do it as a side hobby type of job. For example, if you are good at graphics and you have a spare 2 hours before you have to go somewhere and you see someone paying $80 for a logo you can do in 30 minutes that's a freelance job right there. sure it might not get food for the next week but it can buy you something you've been wanting to get.
Hi, About 2 years ago I returned to design after a 5 year break (well kind of - I did all my own design for my own make up company - which taught me a lot , and I was successful in all the areas that I am good at - marketing, PR, design and packaging, sales etc - but not so good in my weakest areas, such as inventory management, tax, book keeping all the fun stuff - not!). I have learnt that if you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses as a person, you can be really really successful doing what your are good at, but only if you love it, and there is a market for it. My example is that I love all things girly, pretty, feminine, beauty products, packaging, fashion make up etc, but I am also pretty good and figuring out how to make design work in both print and web, which is rare. Coupled with the fact that I have had buckets of experience with big agencies and studios, I have applied those principles to my small studio, and only do work that is of a high standard has meant slow and steady business success. I have few overheads, which is a killer in business, and have a system where clients pay over time so I have solved potential cashflow issues. All in all I am really enjoying this. Most importantly I don't waste time doing things that aren't my area of expertise - book keeping is being done by a book keeper, and I get programming problems solved by an expert, and then learn from that person's solution. Do what you are best at and you give yourself the best chance of success. Di
Some good posts here Personaly I suggest working on a project and growing it gradually and it should be in the area that your intrested in. Things move quickly on the internet, I think a ecommerce site or something that business allways need (web hosting etc) would be a safe bet.
thanks a lot for the advices.... is it same if we love doing something means we are good doing it? i have been exploring to make money online and i find we need to focus on the business...pick one model of business and focus on it...otherwise u will get tired and bored...
Other than the love what you do and do what you love advice. The very best advice that I have heard is once you can build a website and set it up well, have some business cards printed (yes old fashioned business cards). There are LOTS of rw businesses that want and need websites. Build some for them and charge rw money. I am working on my web skills right now so I can do that. Best of luck and effort to everyone here!! Wayne
