What do you Prefer? MLM or Affiliate Marketing?

Is there someone in this forum that prefers MLM over affiliate marketing?

Well just to bring it up, I utilize affiliate marketing to produce nearly all of what I make on the internet as money. I don't know why, but I’ve always had a pessimistic look to all MLMs.

Promoting some service or product though all those levels and things like that is not actually my obsession.

Working with a thing that your success depends on the success of others, I believe I am being fixed down or something. Limited potentials I mean.

That is just my point of view, maybe I am wrong. Is there anyone currently doing some kind of MLM that is working well for him?

Yes, I've been thinking about this and I have decided not to limit myself to just one or the other. I think it's great to have both Affiliate Programs along with your MLM so you are always making money. The 2 work together and create multiple streams of income. What we have to do is learn marketing to avoid failure at both these entities all together.

Not all MLM's are pyramid schemes but the majority are. Wikipedia defines a pyramid scheme as a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, often without any product or service being delivered.

If you are receiving "value" in an MLM for services or information, that you could not otherwise obtain without doing a boatload of research or paying for, then you are not in a pyramid scheme. On the other hand, another person may look at the same service or information and it may not be useful to them so it may seem like a pyramid scheme. just my 2 cents.....

Well the real issue is marketing. Alot of mlm people don't know how to market. Marketing is the key in both affiliate and network marketing. I think mlm would be easier if people understood attraction marketing and getting prospects to call them.

I prefer affiliate marketing -- of course only when someone is doing it for my products! Being a writer does pay off in the end as I'm finishing up another eBook! =)

I really think affiliate marketing is better for beginners. Once you have a huge list, you can do MLM.

LOL ur like me, even though some of the affiliate programs I participate in have a two level system they don't require participants to market to make money. I don't know though I myself am in a looked down upon market which is money making even though I only promote free to join legit sites it is still difficult to find good quality link exchanges:( but anyway I do look down on MLM because I feel only the ones at the very top have a chance to make any money.

People who slam MLM either don't understand it or have failed in the past. If the company has a good history; the products are in demand and move; along with a solid payplan, then MLM works.

MLM works - It's the people that don't.

Response: 1) People fail with MLM because they are trained by people using fifteen year old + methods.

    2) Many MLM companies are very restrictive due to intense government regulation.

    3) In MLM, some sponsors are big on selling tools. You can go broke before you start.

Extra note: The new thinking... develop a business that uses the best of affiliate & MLM marketing. Have your company separate from ANY MLM group/company... don't depend on one source of income.
