I will look for only his writing ability and price. If he/she is reasonable then I will go with him/her

one should look for the portfolio first, if the writer's name does not speak of him/her.

Ok, so if someone offers quality with a fair price will you go with it? or will you go through the cheap guy? Does quality work for you?

I look for the quality of the writing, the originality of the views/presentation and the lack of typos and grammatical errors.

As in most things, you get what you pay for.

Yep. I agree with you, do you like long-term direct writers or would you rather go with the contractual stuff?

Do you guys pay attention to the style of witting? I mean some people write in a more entertaining way, others write in an educational and informing way.

Which one is the winning horse?

I think the best way to write is to join those two styles together, unless you're writing for a certain audience that requires formality (academic, medical) but if you can infuse entertainment in writing, i'd appreciate it. I never loved to read something so dense.

Ooh Phil, you're just down the road from me.

Actually when hiring I look at tearsheets and then price.

Portfolio of quality weriting in the past is very, very importnat. I also need to take on someone who I can trust to write professionally and in their own way after having done the research.

I've been on both sides - the one in need of a writer and a writer myself. From two different points of view, however, I've always sought for research abilities, writing skills, some creativity. Speed doesn't matter that much to me - what matters more is quality.

Then I've got a question: what if a writer who's just a beginner hasn't much to put in their portfolio? Can they bid some attractively low price so that to get hired? Or is it unethical of them?
